Well after putting 130 miles on my 02 M2 I purchased several days ago,I got to upgrade the exhaust,I don't like the muffled sound. What's a good slip-on to choose? I saw a Vance & Hines on Ebay for $300 including shipping but I read a thread somewhere about someone having issues getting these to bolt up right |

Depends on what sound, and how much you want. To me the D&D is a great sound, a bit loud for some though. Vance & Hines you'll have to repack over time. Go on to Youtube and search for bikes with the different mufflers, the best way to get an idea. |

Scorpions a good one, if you can find one. |

The supertrapp IDS is (IMHO) the best and least grief option. Durable, good looking, easy to tune. |

Super Trapp no packing needed and it doesn't break. |

Champ, That is incorrect, the ST DOES need to be repacked on occasion. The tuning of the pipe is done with the discs, they don't need replacing.. I'll agree with Bill, the ST IDS is a great slip on. I have one on my M2, it's got at least 20,000 miles on it with NO problems. One repack if memory serves. I used the repack kit from American Sport Bike, it worked much better than the stock stuff. American Sport Bike has several good aftermarket pipes for your M2. They are good people to deal with and they are a site supporter too. Good luck with your new-to-you M2. |

I'm looking at the lower priced Vance & Hines SS2R slip-on at American Sport Bike ,is jetting required on these? I don't plan on doing anything else to the bike other than a slip-on (Message edited by scdobber on October 26, 2009) |

Jetting should be done almost anytime you change an exhaust component or intake component. Preferably done on a Dyno to get maximum power. With some mods, you run the risk of running too lean which would do very very bad things to the motor. (Message edited by brinnutz on October 26, 2009) |

Does a 99 X1 and a 02 M2 take the same exhaust, both at 2.5" ? |

Supertrapp still lists a stainless steel slip on part # 725-71235 for '99 to '02 X1, M2, S3 and S1 bikes. It fits all bikes with the 2.5" collector. The only S1 with this size pipe would be the 1998 S1W. They don't make this distinction; and there wasn't a S1 offered for 1999. I hope that this helps you. |

You can try calling, but when I did I'm pretty sure they don't have anymore...And that was calling Supertrapp themselves. |
