I have a 1999 S3T, I love it. I am a pretty serious sport tour rider stationed in Germany where 100mph AutoBahn down to the Alps is the norm. I currently have a Gustaffson 3" (maybe 4") bubble from the previous owner. It hits me right in the face shield at speed, I get bugs on my face shield, and pushed around by the blast. I'm 5'8" using a Nolan 103 modular, so I'm not sticking way up tall in the saddle. I purchased a Zero Gravity from a member here, but have not fitted yet. I'm also thinking about a Laminar Lip to add to the zero-G. I read that the Rifle screen looks like it should work but does not. It then occurred to me to learn from others, and ask what has worked and what was a waste of time and money. I know the S3T is not a Luxo-Tour, but it should be as comfortable as possible for 500 mile days. I look forward to your responses. |

+4 Zero Gravity with adjustable laminar lip pulled all of the way up will help with the bugs/buffeting. |

2001 S3T I have a Zero Gravity windscreen, and I'm pleased with it -- keeps the wind load off my chest. My full face is in the wind, but it's not turbulent. I do get bugs on my face shield. The S3T is sensitive to cross winds. I'm 5'8" also with a Scorpion full face. |

I have an 02 S3T with what appears to be a stock dimension zero gravity windscreen with a Laminar lip on it .... it works great. The lip breaks the wind up enough to not blast my helmet or buffet. I'm 6' tall. I previously had a 00 S3T with a +4 Zero Gravity and experienced quite a bit of buffeting. 500 mile days are not a problem on my 02 with the lip. |

Thanks everybody, I will fit a laminar to the zero G. I think that should do it. I'm glad I decided to work smart, not hard. If anybody needs advice on how to drop your bike in a dirt/gravel parking lot, in the rain and dark, just ask me. |

I am 6'6" and have a Laminar Lip on a stock windscreen. Have put about 15,000 miles on this setup, and love it. The stock windscreen without the lip was awful for me. The wind hits me in the helmet, but it is smooth and non turbulent. The lip gets the strong wind force off of my shoulders, but you shouldn't have that problem anyway at your height. I would never take the windshield and Laminar Lip combination off of this bike, as it makes the ride perfect for me. |

I just installed a rifle windshield. It reduces the windspeed on my torso, but there is no still air pocket, I think it looks odd, too. It feels like I'm doing 30 on a bike with no fairing when I'm doing 70. But, it's a lot better than the gustaffsen that was on there, it provided no protection at all. |

Anyone know if the Laminar Lip smoke color matches the stock barely-even-there smoke color? If not, does the ZG windscreen match the Laminar Lip color? |

194,000 miles on Buells!I pack lip on trips and use in early spring, those wind-shears really take fun out of the ride! But lip really smooths them out!I use 4" over zero gravity screens on both bikes.

Your Welcome, and Thank You all for the input. I never thought I'd get this much response for such a mundane question. I love my S3T and I cant believe I waited so long to get into Buell. Now we are orphans with a Guardian that would like to see us gone. Shame on H-D for ignoring us as a market. I hope to keep my S3T streetable and dependable. This winter I'm looking at lighter, forged pistons, and some light head work (just deburring and minor flow improvement) Pass on any rock solid performance mods I should consider. Oh, I fitted the zero G screen, looks great and feels better, will add the lip soon. thanks boys. |
