I have a chopper with a 99 Cyclone 1200 on it. It keeps fouling out the plugs. At idle it runs good for a good while. If you take out the plugs they are covered with carbon. Accelerate and black smoke comes out pipe. I think carb is extremely rich. I don't know any history on bike, just bought it as a project. It has straight pipes on it if that changes anything. Thanks for any help. |

If you would have left the motor in the Cyclone frame and not chopped it, you wouldn't have these problems. Problem solved. |

First see what jets are in your carb. Assuming it's a Keihin. Straight pipes are only going to work well at full throttle, so you might consider what you will be using the bike for, drag racing? Or Street? If street, second, get a muffler. In the meantime, check out this list of links to various methodologies of tuning the CV carb: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php? t=491296 |

I'm with Brinnutz. Not a fan of destroying good bikes to build mongrels. |

Get a muffla. You won't be able to tune it with your drag pipes. Find a used cyclone frame and convert it back. The bike will Stop, Go, AND TURN! |
