Anyone have recommendations for a transport company to haul a Uly across country? Under the heading of, "I must be crazy..." I bought an '08X from a fellow BadWeB'er and must drive about 7 hours to go and pick it up. Prior to that I placed a bid on a bike on eBay, an '08XT, and received an email today congratulating me, telling me I was the winner. So, I now am technically the owner of TWO '08 Uly's! Yes, crazy I know. So, I am looking for a transport service to bring the bike across country to Pa. I've also spoken to my brother, who works at Harley here in York, about flying out and riding it back, which he's considering. I would make the trip myself, but do not have the opportunity to take off work due to my occupation. I'd enlist some BadWeB'ers, but that would be too much to ask...I could see it now though, like passing the Olympic torch! LOL Once here I am going to ride both for about a week and see which one I want to keep. I will then sell the other. Any recommendations from anyone, btw? I know the X has sharper turn radius, different wheels for off-road, no side cases, different front forks and longer travel while the XT is a bit lower, different shocks, maybe better touring capability, bags and is about 40 pounds heavier. Choose one over the other? I'm leaning towards the X but putting the XT bags on it and selling the XT. If anyone is looking for an '08 Uly let me know. Would be happy to sell it for what I'll have in it. If not, I can sell it on consignment with my local HD/Buell dealer. Transport to Pa will be about $500 from what I can tell. If my brother flies out and brings it back I think traveling costs will be about the same (flight is $104, 10 or so tanks of fuel $120, hotels, food, etc.). So, just seeing if anyone has any thoughts. | ||

www.funtransport.com. I've used them twice with no issues. Just had them move my Uly for NC to CA about 6 months ago. | ||

Etennuly, the bike is in Glendale, Arizona. If it were a month later I could fly out and ride home (I'm off for several weeks for Christmas break from teaching). I'm in York, Pa. Total trip is about 2,000 miles, which I'm sure some gung ho person could do in two or three days. Not sure if my brother can do it yet or not, but maybe someone else is looking for an adventure! | ||

I shipped my Uly plus a bunch of other stuff (including 2 bicycles) in an ABF ReloCube. Lots of tie down straps, with the front wheel in one corner. It made the trip from Boston to LA in about a week with no problems. http://www.upack.com | ||

Allied Van Lines has a dedicated group which transports motorcycles. At one time AMA members got a discount and BMW used to use them to ship from dealer to dealer (for dealer transfers). |
