I do not think, but do not know for sure, that it is a factory custom. I have seen a couple of S2s with a similar color scheme. My guess, and it is only a guess, that a dealership did it and probably sold it like that with out the buyer knowing or most likely caring if it was a true factory custom. |

No, Buell never shipped a bike like that out of the factory. Why would Buell put a Harley-Davidson sticker on the bodywork when they went through so much trouble trying to get rid of all the Harley-Davidson references off the S2? Sure there are still some in certain places, some in more conspicuous areas than others, but they were minimized as much as possible. Myth - BUSTED! 1313 |

I stand by my theory, a dealership did it. I just removed some decals off a S2 tail section that said "Powered by Harley Davidson" what fun. I never understood why someone would do that. } |

I agree 100%. I even have the original dash medallions that they made us take off. I think we have, between 1313, Dave, I and a couple of Elves a pretty comprehensive listing of everything that lest the factory in an "odd" configuration. Two of them went to me. Shame but one of the chapters that got cut was "The Special Buells". (Message edited by court on November 08, 2009) |

Court - you can send me a manuscript of that chapter, with one of the "Powered by HD" dash badges, if they need a safe place to live Frank - the "powered by" bit is for one reason. Someone is so insecure with the purchase they just made, they have to put signs on it to make it legitimate to the people "who matter". In other words...they gotta impress their buddy. I hate to count the number of Buell trades I've had to peel HD stickers off of. INCLUDING an '08 1125r that was slathered with HD dipdots on the windscreen and engine cases, and B&S logos under each "Buell" on the airbox. Talk about a stretch. A Loki with HD stickers. <facepalm> |

No wonder the sportbike guys refer to the Buell race team as the "Harley Guys"... No matter, I got to get on the ball and get at least one bike done this year. I am working on the LightningBolt. "Powered by Buell" |

That S2 looks like one that was here in Phoenix about 5 years ago, belonged to a guy named Cary. He had it custom painted that color by the guys that did the custom paint jobs for the dealership he worked at. He ended up selling it in 2005. I'm not sure if it's the same bike, but it sure looks like it... |

I wrote the guy and got a response. He is fully aware it did not come from the factory that way. |

That is what I thought. I just couldn't picture it coming from the factory in that configuration. |
