As many of you know, the right pod has to be removed to add fluid to the overflow reservoir. I usually find myself pulling it off to check it as well since the sight glass just doesn't seem to work for me. So, I set out to mod it so I can check the level and fill as necessary (or lower the level if it gets over filled).

Steps as followed:

1. Pull right pod and remove the reservoir. Drain fluid into container.

2. Drill a 1/4" hole in top of reservoir just behind the molded filling hole. I used a Dremmel. Ensure that there are no plastic particles in reservoir by scarping the hole clean and rinsing it out.

3. Take a 3' piece of 1/4" O.D. high temp semi-rigid hose and feed it into the drilled hole until it just touches the top of the "Cold Full" line (preferably touching the side of the reservoir as well to prevent shifting).

4. Secure the newly added hose to the neck of the molded filling hole with a zip tie. This makes sure it wont move over time.

5. Route the hose over the top (to the right) of the molded filling hole/black plug and then back under (left) the reservoir (there's a small gap between the reservoir and the mounting surface). Pull the hose through all the reservoirs hoses. Dont pinch the hose.

6. Pull the hose towards the frame near the lower torx screws. Reattach the pod. Cut the hose such that when it is tucked behind the pod about 2" are sticking out from underneath (near the bottom left torx). Plug the hole with a plug from the bottom of a pen. If it dont fit, heat it and force the plug in. Let cool and it should be a tight fit.

7. Use:

A. Check the level: blow into the hose. It'll sound like air hitting the top of the water (not quite like full on bubbling as if the hose were submerged).

B. Over full condition: suck on the line until you get a siphon going (end must be below reservoir). Let drain until it stops as the hose ends at the cold full line.

C. Under full condition: pull the hose out from behind the pod (gently) and up above the reservoir. Use a small funnel (rolled paper plate for me) to introduce water into the hose/tank. Go slow as it is a 1/4" hose. Might be slow, but its still faster than pulling/attaching the pod.

*Be sure to always blow any coolant in the hose back into the reservoir to prevent accidental siphons.

Pictures worth a thousand words (even if they are cropped to heck to meet the restrictions- I can email full ones if so requested but its a pretty simple mod really):

Interesting idea, although I'm probably not yet qualified to comment intelligently on the merits of it ... But I do know that I can't see anything in that sight glass, even when my level is correct. Is it just me?

Same here Mike.

I too have been thinking of an easier way to check.

Clbofaz, Nice creative thinking.

Plus now you get to give your bike a blow job.

I did it because I found the sigh glass unhelpful. Id end up pulling the pod to ensure the level was correct and it usually disagreed with what I inferred from the sight glass. I though suspending a small glow stick would be interesting but they dont last that long.

Pop - funny stuff, I thought the same thing when I was trying for see how to set it up. Guess I'm not the only perv that loves their bike.

I been thinking about this some and decided if I do this mod I would put it through the rubber stopper.

Also thinking about an LED down there with a small switch hidden in the pod.

Very good ideas, good job!
I'm not big on sucking on the tube, but...
If you blow and get bubbles it's good, no bubbles, gotta add juice.
