well today i finally got to put about 100 straight miles on the bike, i picked up the bike the first week they went on "sale". the day i brought it home it was already too late in the evening to put any quality miles on it, i did get about 80 miles in the dark throughout the city. and being typical Michigan fashion being rainy/cold everyday until today with the occasional chance to get out and ride in between the rain. today was a pretty nice day around here, i hooked up with a buddie who has an 03 Z1000. the ride it self wasn't anything to write about except how impressed with the power of the bike my buddie and myself are. we pulled onto a straight open road and he couldn't resist trying to get me to race.....well i couldnt resist either, i have 450 miles on it now so i felt good enough to really open her up, to his suprise i took the bait and was blowing past him like he wasn't moving. i ran it up to about 135 then shut down, here is where i have a question (if you have been reading all of this....lol) as i was decelerating it backfired out the exhaust big time, the guy i was with said it shot flames out. well we stopped, i checked diag mode for codes...none check the afv F 100 and R 105 seemed normal to me (from what i have gathered on here), so the question is, is this somthing i should worry about...bike is still running great and was before that point. |

I ran mine hard up to the same speed and didn't get any backfire, but I wouldn't worry about it either. Flames out the exhaust is pretty normal for some high performance vehicles. Even some cars will do it. I bet my mustang shoots some flames since it's running so rich at WOT. |

It's great fun isn't it?! I wouldn't worry about the backfire unless it happens frequently. But then again it's not every day you hit 135 ... Or maybe it is Mike |

I wouldn't worry too much.Mine backfired while it was starting, didn't fire, then next hit,it fired up and ran strong. |

I wouldn't worry too much.Mine backfired while it was starting, didn't fire, then next hit,it fired up and ran strong. My bike makes a pop every time I start it. Not really a backfire and it starts every time. It seemed to start after doing the tps reset routine. |

ok cool, as long as its not a symptom of something major on these beasts. i can say that this is going to be a fun bike. already have the high bars, just need to install them edit: i already have it denoided, so it wasnt that, prolly just unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
