Picked up my black CR this morning and put over 90 miles on it today. I've been driving as recommended by motoman, a lot of loading it up followed by engine braking. Changed the oil at 53 miles (the stuff in there was kind of funny looking). And as others have mentioned, the magnetic drain plug was pretty well filled up with fine sludge. Anyway, a few things I've observed. 1 - it's freaking fast, 6k in 6th is 90mph and it gets there in a hurry. 2 - I've confirmed the clubman bars are not for me - hope those high bars come in soon. My back is a bit sore. 3 - confirmed it had been flashed with 152 and it seems to run perfectly. 4 - the black CR is a wicked good looking bike in person. Only the front view looks a little funky. Even my wife thinks it looks cool. 5 - for $6k, this was the motorcycle bargain of the century. I even talked them into giving me a free Buell shirt. 6 - after reading all the posts of issues, I was pleasantly surprised that mine worked flawlessly. More to come, but for now I am a happy guy... |

Swamp cool stuff you can lower the pegs put ULY pegs on it they will help quite a bit and can always change back once your high bars come in. The scary thing to me is my new CR now sits excatly like my XB but with like uber balls |

Swamp, 6th gear ... I'm not sure I've had mine in 6th yet, nearly 600 miles as of this morning. Okay, I put it there a couple of times just to check it out, but that's about it. And yes, when you can buy a bike like this for 6-7K, you've definitely done something. My 09R has only been home two weeks, and I'm pushing the factory break-in point (620). I just can't stay off this thing! Mike (Message edited by milleniumx1 on November 07, 2009) |

Oh, yeah. Maybe I didn't research this adequately but was surprised that the owners manual guidance of "takes 2.4 quarts if you don't change the filter" was WAY off. I wasted a lot of time putting in a couple ounces at a time, seems like its actually about 3 quarts w/out a filter change. At least if you want to believe the dip stick. Next time I'll remember... |

3 quarts with a filter change is plenty, anymore and it would be overfilled on a hot check. I'll probably put in 2.7 quarts next time. You do know to check it stand up straight, not on the side stand. Changed my oil at 115 miles and it looked very gray in color. it was so gray looking that I sent off a sample to make sure there wasn't any coolant in there. It checked out fine, titanium was 84 ppm, but everything else looked normal for break in. Be careful in second gear, that wheel can lift faster than you think. Also be careful passing people in 3rd. My bars started to wobble as I pinned it going around a semi. |

Moosestang, I've had the same experience with front end lift. My CR will do a power wheelie in every gear up to 6. Wierd thing is, I wasn't trying to wheelie, it just does it! Short wheel base, with a 455lb bike and 146 horses under the seat, seems to be the ticket. Speaking of tickets, first offense in Florida is $1,000 on a wheelie! Haven't had that pleasure yet but, I am endeavoring to learn good acceleration on this monster without wheelies! But, damn, it is FUN! |

So your saying you power wheelie in 4th,5th, and 6th gear. are you 90 lbs? |

Nope, 215lb. This thing is a monster! Jardine RT5 muffler, dealer install. The old familiar handlebar shake in each gear, except 6. 1 - 5 works well when you get on it and you don't have to be at r's over 6.5 to get there. At least, that's been my experience. Now, these are not Cycle World cover wheelies by any stretch of the imagination - more like what you see in MotoGP or SBK out of curves. Besides, I'm TRYING to keep the front end on the road. |

I think he meant all but 6th. It's probably more front suspension unloading than actual wheelie. Nobody is pulling the wheelie in 4th doing a roll on. I'm aware of the Florida wheelie laws. It's not the first law where the punishment doesn't fit the crime and it certainly won't be the last. I can get the front wheels of my car off the ground at certain intersections without breaking the speed limit, is that against the law? The license plate law is also silly. Doesn't the state see a great business opportunity here? They could sell vertical plates to all the Harley guys and make a fortune, but they decided to outlaw it and make nothing. We are going to regulate ourselves into another revolution soon. |

Yes I would also be highly surprised if the wheel came off the ground in 4th or 5th. I'm 215lbs and it won't wheelie in 3rd unless I tug hard on the bars and slide all the way back. it will in 2nd |

Mine doesn't always come right up in 2nd. Sometimes it just raises a little, but if I just barely chop the throttle at 5k it will come up like it's on a mission! I'm pretty certain I could loop it in 2nd gear, so be careful. I bet it power wheelies more often with the high bars. |
