How is the charging system on a 2002 S3T? At a minimum, I'd like to be able to hook my GPS to it. At most, I'd like to be able to use my GPS, a chatterbox or CB radio and some heated gear. Will it handle it? |

You could do this: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/433236.html?1233572275 |

That may be an option down the road, but I'm still wondering how much the stock system can support? |

I thought this was last year, but in: Buell Motorcycle Forum » Old School Buell » Archives 001 » Archive through August 26, 2005 » S3T Alternator » Archive through August 09, 2005 I found: The S2 & S3 have a 297 Watt AC Alternator. On a 12 volt system, this calculates out to 24.75 amps. At some point someone posted a notional chart of what the total current draw was for a tuber, and there wasn't much residual power. I've poked around for a while now and can't seem to find it. |

So it sounds like maybe I can run the GPS, but anything else should be self-powered.... Unless I do the alternator mod Brin pointed out. |

In my searching I saw another user stating they have the gloves/pants/vest as well. They did say the low speed riding would result in a drained battery, though. If you're going to run a few items and spend time at idle you might consider a voltmeter for your dash. The FI gets flaky if your battery starts to get low. Really bugs me that I can't find that chart. Seems like something Oldog would put together.... |
