My dealer called me today telling me the resistor I ordered to nullify my noid equipment was on backorder till Jan 2010. WTF! Its a $6 part. Is there another place we can source this part like JAMCO or something? |

I'll use a multi-tester and find out the value for you and post it up. Will be a few cents at radio shack to replace. |

3 Ohms |

3 ohms is the solenoid resistance. If you use that you will need a 75 watt resistor. No way that would fit in the little plug Buell uses. The Buell resistor is 120ohm, 2 watt. ac |

you need to get a 120 ohm 1/4 watt resistor. the closet thinng my local radio shack had was a pack of 68 ohm resitors. hooked two in series and it works fine. |

If 1/4 watt works so be it. I was doing calculations based on the full ~15 volts being used on that circuit. ac |

Not 3 ohms unless you supply a massive resistor that's capable of sinking a lot of power. The factory solenoid eliminator resistor is (I believe) about 120 ohms. That is enough to satisfy the ECU that the solenoid is neither missing nor shorted. |

ya know, i read about the fall-on-your-face noid problem, and tried to make it happen to but could not trigger it. cool ..... so, my 09 is 'special' or 'fixed' .... right? ˇ ! NO ! ˇ that shít happened to me today on my way home from work. when i wasn't expecting it. while i was trying to merge. it could have been my demise. COULD have then (4 miles down the road, bike stayed running) i went to a backroad and tried to trigger it again. nothing ... i don't get it what ever yous guys gotta do, do it. you don't want to experience this stutter (Message edited by nillaice on November 06, 2009) |

Yes it is backordered to 2010. I am yet to have the noid kick in on either of my bikes. I recently denoided one of mine, and am yet to get the check engine light that people report they can get when it should of triggered. |

Unless you're racing and need to shed the 1.5 pounds, just remove the noid's cable and leave it plugged in to the ECM. Nobody but racers "need" the resistor plug. They can also get the race harness that saves another pound or two. Zack |

That is correct. If the cable isn't hooked up it can't affect the throttle plates. If the solenoid is plugged in the ECU is happy. ac |

Thanks man...I don't have a plug, so that's what i'll be doing tomorrow, as well as putting on the airbox bra. |

with the noid unplugged and no resistor installed, is there any danger with leaving it like that? |

I would have just removed the cable if I hadn't have gotten the plug right away. What I liked about just doing the plug was that I didn't have to take off anything but the front seat. I wasn't feeling too adventurous that night at midnight, the first chance I got to sneak to the garage after sitting up with two sick kids (flu). Mike |

That's weird, I ordered one from them on Monday, and I got an email today saying they were on backorder with no release date. Oh well. |

Man......... all these parts are going on national back order till Jan 2010.. its nuts. my dealer had the high rise bar kit in stock they ordered the noid and got it in 2 days... And today they told me they shipped some buell parts to Ohio since they had it and the system showed back order. some dealer in Ohio needed the parts bad i guess... I figure once things calm down a bit this whole back order business will subside.... gosh i hope..I hope rocker cover gaskets aren;t on back order. i need those to get my bike back since i had a pretty bad leak from the rear cylinder.. |

Why is it nuts? Think about it. For 2+ years there has been next to no demand. Now, suddenly ALL the bikes are selling. EVERYONE on this board who bought one, (100+) wants this $6 part. Backorder is to be expected. Get used to it. We own bikes out of production. ac |

I am pretty sure I have posted the resistor value a few times. 120ohm and ~15 volt operating would mean 2watt at most. Others have posted successful results with 1/2 watt. This would be because either the circuit doesn't get full voltage or because the circuit isn't on constantly. ac |

Just for clarification for everyone, since I've seen it posted here. If you disconnect the cable, or use the resistor, you can still get a CEL when the correct conditions are met. The CEL will clear at the next start. The code will clear from diagnostics after 50 clean starts. Whether you completely denoid & use the resistor or "just" remove the cable, you are NOT preventing a CEL from happening if the correct conditions are met to activate the 'noid. The only way that I am aware of to completely prevent a CEL is via the Race ECM. So, order the $6 resistor if you want to completely remove the 'noid. Until it arrives in 2010, just remove the cable. Problem solved. |

P_squared is spot on. This topic reminds me of one from the late 90's when GM started using a skip-shift (1st to 4th) 'feature' for their 6-speed manuals. To disable that meant to install a resistor pack. After you did that, the car would shift 1-2 at the slow speeds the 1-4 used to activate. But your light on the dash would still flash on momentarily. If I had a dollar for every time it was explained that only a tuning/code change could make that stop happening, I could have bought three Buells! I've only had my 09R for two weeks, and learned a ton here on BadWeb. Thanks folks. Mike |

I saw this thread and wanted to give a little advice on resistors. The ohm value is what the ECM will be looking at to verify there is a coil present. The 2 watt rating of this resistor is what the power level the resistor can handle all the time. 1/2 Watt resistors might be OK for the short term, but will get hot and could fail if left on too long. The 2 watt will get just as hot, but will last forever at 15 volts. For how long the noid is on, I doubt anyone would have a problem with 1/2 watt, but I would look into a 1 or 2 Watt resistor for the long run. Kirb |
