So, I'm running down the road and think I will just roll on the throttle -- no down shifting, just run it up a bit. I do so. I look down, the speedo says I'm somewhere around 115. Jiminy Cricket, to use a phrase that dates me. Way too fast for the street in general, let alone the road I'm on. Understand, I'm not one to do stupid things on the street. I'm old enough to have a deeply ingrained sense of mortality, but not so far on the downward slope of the actuarial curve to not give a damn. This bike could land me in jail or much worse, such as my wife finding out. I love this bike, but it does have me concerned. |

Short shifting is the only way I'm able to ride it without being stupid according to the speedo....and that means 3rd gear...hahaha. |

You and me both. She likes to be ran hard, but running her hard risk my license. The Bolt is much better for all around use. |

The thought has occurred to me that I may be trying to find someone to swap me for an XB9SX in a few months... |

I got 15 tickets the first year I owned my 1125r. I bought a track membership last December. It's been a huge savings! |

Riding the 1125R on the street is like flying a jet in the hanger. |

So when it was just the XBs people were complaining that there wasn't enough power. Now that we have the 1125 you guys are complaining about too much power? Jeesh, its always something, never satisfied. Maybe trying getting the mpg numbers up instead of the mph. Then you shouldn't have to worry about getting in trouble. |

I do so. I look down, the speedo says I'm somewhere around 115. Seems to me you are trying to blame the bike for your lack of awareness??? FYI, it's not the bike's fault. |

I can see it will be hard to remain ticket-free on this thing ... If I would have had something like this 10-20 years ago, I'd have probably lost my license or killed myself. Mike |

What got me in trouble is there was no sense of going that fast. It is the most stable bike at speed I think I've ever been on. |

At least in Texas, no ticket should ever stick on your license. If you will offer the court extra money, they will generally dismiss the case outright. |

Agree somewhat. My only ticket in the two years I have owned mine did not come with very high speeds but in canyon turns in the mountains doing 65 around curves in a 40 mph zone. County motor cop had about 10 riders pulled over at the end of a blind turn. Did not see him until too late and he had every one of us on radar. These 1125's DO TURN WELL even with an old guy riding it. Also totally my fault. Bob |

Our bike is so darn linear with the power band. You dont realize how fast you are going. Its very stable at a high rate of speed and loves to be ridden hard. I need a new rear tire at just 4,000 miles on my CR. |

Another reason why I bought the CR over the R: The wind protection of the R and the racer's crouch would have had me in triple digit speeds way too often. I am surprised by people who get a lot of tickets on bikes. When I got my last ticket, the officer said I was doing 84mph -- in my smart fortwo convertible with the top down. And even I don't get a lot of tickets on my bike. It might be because of the heavy traffic in the Washington, DC area: It can be hard to target bikes with laser and radar when there are other vehicles all around them and the rider is fairly aggressively changing lanes (which I do -- not cutting people off, just looking for an quicker line through the traffic). |

I got another 90 minutes on mine today. Apparently it's impossible to pass cars (in legal passing zones) on country highways without hitting 100mph from a leisurely 55mph. I grew up riding Harleys, so even being comfortable at that kind of speed is a whole new awakening for me ... Not to mention how quickly it gets to it! |

Yea I usually ride my 1125cr down below the powerband,3000-3500 and that is pressing the legal speed limit...tho the other day i went first to second and then wound her to about 10k and noticed that I just passed through 80 mph ....gets there quick ..... |

Just got my first ticket in about 8 years. 90 in a 65. It was a great open piece of road, unfortunately didn't see the fuzz sitting in the shadow of the overpass. He let me off with only the speeding ticket and didn't add on the careless driving. |

Is the 1125R my first sport bike? Since I owned an '00 X1 Lightning, I probably better say "No" as to not irritate my tuber friends. But I think it's fair to say they are different leagues in terms of engine performance. Mike |

Nope, not the first sport bike at all. It is however the most linear powered and smoothest bike at speed I've owned. |

The 1125r is probably the worst bike to own to stay within the speed limit. That V2 only does one thing well, run like its a race engine,, thats about it. |

IMO and that's all it is the 1125 is no where near the worst bike to stay within the speed limit. Try a well tune Busa or 14 making 190 hp and 112 ft lbs of TQ. Both of those bikes at 140 are smoother then the 1125 is at 80. Don't get me wrong I find the Buell more enjoyable to ride but no where near the power of some of my other bikes. |

This is the only bike that's "done it" for me. Not only is it fast/quick, it's easy. I love it when the bike disappears. Z |

I've owned faster more powerful bikes too but none which cruise as 'comfortably' at 100mph. I chalk some of this down to the engine characteristics (100mph = 6k rpms) However I chalk most of it up to the super ergonomics of the 1125R. The 'quiet zone' fairing lives up to its name, bars and pegs are nicely placed and with a zero gravity screen - the bike (& I ) WANT to cruise all day at waay above the national speed limit. So I guess the original thread poster makes quite a valid point! |

Yeah I'm use to my old xb9r. I thought that was a grunty bike till I got the CR. Yesterday the fiance and I were out enjoying the 70 degree november illinois day (crazy, but I'd take this weather till Christmas eve) I was coming out of one of my favorite corners and gave it a little more throttle than usual cause of the extra 120 lbs that my firebolt hated. I really dont think the helicon notices. I was going 108 before I realized it. It's so smooth and easy at speed. The only real problem is she can see the gauge cluster so it gets me in trouble. |
