I'd sure appreciate any comments, pro or con, on this accessory I'm considering. Does rain or dirt get behind it and cause problems or does it seal well? Does it hurt the air cover finish? Advantages? Ths. |

I personally prefer the silver airbox guard, I think it just looks better. No personal experience with the mask, but I haven't heard anything bad about them. |

I've been using it for nearly as long as i've had the bike and it doesn't ruin the air box cover, some dust may go behind it, but it's smooth on the back so no problem with rain nor dust. |

Ths. folks. Does rain get behind it Pontlee77? Does it look custom or nice on the bike? What are the advantages of it, or do you just like it? That's an advantage right there! Was it hard to install and does it stay in place well when you remove the seat, etc.? Ths. |

i got one on mine, i like it. it has stayed put since i put it on, its not hard to install, and it bolts to the airbox so the seat comes on and off without messing with it. the tricky part is stretching the wrinkles out with the velcro |

I am also looking at something to protect the tank on a new xt. Are their other options out there? It looks like the mask also protects the sides. Who sells these? Thanks, D |

ohh , by the way , the buckle guard will help prevent your belt buckle , buttons / zippers from scratching the airbox cover , and it is too easy to install , it has a 3M adhesive backing thats kinda like super sticky 2 sided tape , it stays on great and dosent shift around at all , but im not how sure if it would leave a sticky residue if u ever decided to remove it. |

Ulyessesman, I give up! What is cf? "cf buckle guard on the stock midnight black cover"? You lost me. I appreciate the input but I'm a bit lost. Any clarification would be appreciated. Ths. |

cf = carbon fiber I installed the bra on my XT a couple days ago. With the color molded plastics on XB's I don't think the body needs as much protecting as a painted surface does, but I've always liked the look of tank bras, so wanted this one for mostly the looks. It's a pretty easy install, but you need to take your time to make it look good. Get the velcro strips close to where you need them on the inside of the airbox cover (it's not too important if they're a little off from where they need to be) then start stretching and adjusting the bra over the airbox until all wrinkles are gone. After 15 or 20 minutes I got mine just right and I think it enhances the looks of the bike. The bra also has a very handy elastic webbing pocket in the center that will be useful for holding toll for road trips, etc. This is just my $0.02.. but I've got the racing red XT and thought before that it was a bit too much red for my taste. I didn't want an all black XT (not even available in 09) and definitely didnt want the blue, but just thought there was too much red showing. The bra trades off just enough red for black to suit my tastes. I think it matches the dark powdercoat color of the frame nicely. |

I have one on my XB12 and my kid tossed it down the track and it actually spent some time upside down. The "tank" was scritched up where it was sliding on the ground but where the mask was the "tank" was spared. Mines black on black so I don't even know why I have it on there. |

I love the orange but the black bra & black madstad flyscreen really dress it up IMHO. I like the little pocket for sticking my glasses into when putting on/off my helmet. |

Keep in mind that that elastic part will get loosen over time, i lost 2 tall tickets from it, so i had to glue part of it to prevent this happening because of the elastic getting old. |
