Went to go get the lastest flash on my stock ECM today assumed it would be the 141 flash but what they put on was the 'm3pus152' flash. Anyone else have this one yet? I can't find reference to it anywhere. Bike runs a hellofa lot smother than the old 10z flash. |

Wow. A 152 now? Glad I didn't ride all the way to the dealer last weak and get 141. I would be back leveled already! |

First I've heard of that. I'll be taking mine in tomorrow and will post what flash it gets. |

I know it's been speculated / questioned before, but I've yet to see a definitive answer. The 141 (or now even the 152) goes on the CR ... Does it also apply to R? Mine's on 131 which I really like - But if there's something better I'm always interested! Mike |

my CR was updated today while it was in getting new rear blinkers and a new battery. M3PUS152 is what was loaded up. |

Are you guys making an appointment for flash, or are just pulling up and asking for a check? |

I just pull in and say flash me please. My dealer seems pretty slow. i pulled in today and had them clear my map sensor code and do 4 dyno pulls. |

thanks! Make sure your mechanic manually checks for updates. The machines will not do so automatically. It takes about 10 minutes to download the update and the flash process is about 30 minutes. 152 huh? Guess I'm going back in. |

Laying my ignorance out as openly as I can, and keeping in mind I still have and enjoy the Amals and points on my Norton, what is this "flash" stuff about? I've not owned any other motorcycles where this has come up. Any and all condescending comments appreciated. |

Welcome to the Madness Duphuckincati. It is what it is. The good thing is it keeps getting better with each successive flash. |

Ok so the computer (ecm?) gets a new program as to fuel injection and ignition actions among other things? And these get changed as some tuners associated with Harley/Buell/Rotax find new stuff? And I've been reading in the forum some stuff about adjustments that happen as the motorcycle is ridden after a new flash? Sorry about the thread highjack, but I'm a lost '70's kind of guy on this stuff. And thanks for the welcome. If anyone has any questions about Amals or points.... |

Yep its an update for the computer. Newer fuel maps smooth everything out, improve fuel economy, and prevent some other issues like battery rundown. |

Larry - the ECM has a set of software in it, an operating system if you will. The engineers continually (well...they were anyway) work on refining operating characteristics - fan operation, sensor data streams, injector and ignition timing parameters - so the rider has a smoother, more powerful motorcycle under their butt. Think "computerized jet kit", and you're in the ballpark....but it does MUCH more than just fuel delivery. Regardless of your base program ("flash"), DDFI-III - which is the operating system - is a "learning" system and will adapt over time and miles to the rider characteristics and preferences, as well as altitude and weather conditions. All that said...if you like the bike, just ride and grin If it has a characteristic you don't like, post it here and it's entirely possible that the latest flash minimizes that particular characteristic for you. Your dealer *should* be able to do a reflash at no charge. We always do, anyway... |

I stopped into my local dealer the other day and was told by the service dept that "if there was not anything wrong with the bike" that it would cost $39 to put it on the computer. I won't say the name of the dealer, but I live in SW Missouri and it WASN'T Cycle Connection HD and it WASN'T Ozark HD. |

A S/W Missouri dealer that wants to charge for something that its competitors don't? Am I allowed to guess which one? Okay, I'll not do that since it could be considered petty. But back to the point, I really like the 131 that came on my bike. But if 152 is just that much better, it's something I would consider. Coming from an engineering background, usually any new release is accompanied with release notes explaining what the 'fix' involved, expected benefits, etc. Does Buell do this? Mike |

I tried to just find out my flash number but was not going to spend $39 to do it. It would be nice to know what it is for comparison to others. |

Well I just check with ecmspy and they loaded the 141 flash. Bike runs much smoother now. I can still feel some surging in 1st and 2nd gear, but can't feel it anymore in 3rd/4th. Power wheelied 2nd by just chopping the throttle a tiny bit at 5k and it came up faster than I was ready for. Alpha, do you have ecmspy? I'd like to know the firmware version of the 152. |
