S2 fork light mounting: I'd been thinking of a bracket that would strap onto the upper tube above the tapering and be long enough to put the light below the fairing. Fairing would hide the bracket. Carlost: yeah, I saw that HID light - very nice but $475 seemed a bit steep. And I think low beam type light only? I wonder if it would be possible to use HID on a motorcycle if you were to wire it directly to a power source (battery) and use a relay to turn it on/off?? Henrik |

Yep low beam only and the price will come down at some point. How much does a set of PIAA driving lights and brackets and all that shit cost? I'm sure that the gap is closing. Unfortunately the H4 reflector (as on later tube Buells) is a bad one to do an HID upgrade on. Now on the XB9 it could be easily done. Some of the Beemer dudes have already done it. The projector or dual headlight (high/low dedicated beams) setups lend themselves better to HID conversion. These are the guys that put together HID kits for the Beemers http://www.midnightmoose.com/ Their kits are getting better... |

Hey, what happened to the PG-17 part of the Quick Board? I've got something I want to post and the proper sub section is gone. Anybody object to a little flesh on the GDB? Maybe I could put it up on the Cool Buell Pix topic, I'll bet she rides a Buell. |

I've been running an HID kit on Stripe'r for almost 2 years. Much, much brighter. They now have a Hi/ low HID kit that I plan on upgrading to and switching it over to Passion. I went to the 1100X on Stripe'r since I only had a low beam. Take a look here and see how they do the Hi/ Low HID kits. Hey all it takes is $'s. BTW: Carlos, I already switched over my sealed beam for a Hella H4 reflector. Time2Run. |

Still up for grabs, but since it's been on eBay for 4 months I'm wondering if he'll ever sell. I don't think it's ever gone past $5500. At least he stopped claiming its an RSS. |

and in the news - Formula USA "Thunderbike" Class Rule Change
Formula USA intends to utilizes a 3.5 horsepower to weight ratio
Quote:The strongest competition for the Buell in Thunderbike has been the Suzuki SV650. With Buell machines producing anywhere between 90hp to 120hp and weighing 390 to 420 pounds versus Suzuki’s SV producing a wide range from 65hp to 100hp weighing in at 300 to 350 pounds, it has provided close competition for both brands.

Those rules look pretty reasonable to me, looks like it would make for some pretty interesting races. |

FUSA runs a great program, but the lack of west coast venues makes it not really a "national" series.Same with the AHMRA road racing series which has a class for Buells.."modern bike with vintage charactoristics" |

Blake, the ass end of the buell was hanging out :-) what happened was it got too cold, couldnt get the buell going, put in new plugs today and it runs like a champ again.... :-) Even WASHED it ! yes ! :-) Need to finish my custom tailsection and then it will be perfect. Does anybody know the alloy it is made of and if is TIG weldable ?????? I might just try to get a spot inside liquid and see how it reacts .... boese, OH shoulda been there this weekend |

Need advice, Holed a piston. Do I need to split the cases and clean everything out? ( I think I need to, but just wondering if I'm overreacting.) |

Bomber; yes, I've seen a couple of options - nice but pricey. Bracket: I'll take some measurements after the weekend and try to doodle up something. Carlost: Yep, prices will drop - hopefully :-) I did exchange the headlight on the S2 with one of Tat's headlight kits. The H4 bulb is an improvement, but I'd like more. It's amazing how much more light the stock SV headlight puts out, even compared to my upgraded light. Neil: nice link. I'd like more info about your HID upgrade. I guess we ought to move this discussion to the appropriate KV topic. Henrik |

Li8ning, That's a tough decision and depends on what risk you are willing to accept. You can clean out the crankcase pretty darn well from the top end if you have the right tools and patience to do it.... Flush all the oil lines/passages... stuff like that. Personally, I'd be inclined to risk it, but would be prepared for the possible consequences. |

Glitch, Retreads aren't used much on cars anymore, and big rig tractor/trailer trucks that use retreads can be followed by the various road gators left laying around the nations freeways. Don't know how the motorcycle tire retreads will hold up, and don't know the costs of them. Besides, with the FAA comparison, I don't know many aircraft that gauge tire wear by mileage as most aircraft spend few of their miles running along the ground. Oh well, let us know how it works for you, and let me know when they have the tires in white. Li8ning, Is the hole a burned out hole (detonation) or a catastrophic failure hole (sucked debris into the intake or sucked a valve or had a piston defect failure)? If the hole is burned out then possibly all the metal is already out the exhaust. If catastrophic then there may be chunks floating about the engine. Post a pic of the piston if you can. If it's a burned hole you'll have to also figure out why it happened or you'll just be holing a new piston too. I'd wait to hear from the engine experts before deciding anything. |

Yep, but like retreaded tires, many of them wore temporary lids that blew off in the wind. Toupees look like critters when they blow off and are laying in the middle of the road. (Thinking I should start wearing the back protector from now on.) |
