I was just thinking about the racing next season and wonder how many rr's were built and sold? If the rules for the AMA were to stay the same would the 1125R's and RR be able to race next season? I am looking forward to someone on a Buell showing HD what they are abusing and leaving for dead. These bikes is pure awsomeness. Go Buell Racers!! |

HD does not care about racing, they proved that with the VR1000 fiasco. The people calling the shots at HD are not riders; they are not interested in motorcycling, only in pumping up their stock price. Buell could have all the racing success in the world and it would not matter to HD's criminal executives. |

Has anybody read dead bike rolling(1125rr) from Roadracing World yet. I have not but may run out later to p/u. I am curious to see what some of the pro's had to say about the bike. Did it make good enough power to be competitive |

The last round proved that, yes, the 1125RR would have been competitive in American Superbike. |

>>>HD does not care about racing, they proved that with the VR1000 fiasco. I maintain the opposite. I think there were some people who been behind the 10's of millions Harley-Davidson spent over the last 10 to 15 years trying to race only to see Buell enter and get a championship their first year with a "non-Harley" motor and the frame Erik had proposed for the VR (see 25 Years of Buell) and got laughed at for. These were the folks who brought you the 37 minute tire change pit stop. Pissed? You bet they were and they were not about to let Buell roll out that 2011. |

Court, You hit the nail directly on the head.. Thank you, my thoughts exactly. HD had lost direction even before the AMF years and chose to rest on the 750 platform and not support further developement of the unit construction mills. I spent years trying to make them run from 750 to 1400 CC in displacement and would kill most other HD lines in terms of performance. It took Erik to get the unit construction platform to its zenith in the XB plant. The failure to perform of the XBRR line in a world class arena like the 1125R did right out of the gate created a gaping wound that could not apparently get sutured... Shortsighted is a gross understatement of HD's vision in performance motorcycles, it takes more than throwing money into bad laps. |

So Court are you suggesting that this whole thing is based on a sibling rivalry so big brother killed lil bro? If that's the case, I'm more pissed than ever. |

>>>So Court are you suggesting that this whole thing is based on a sibling rivalry so big brother killed lil bro? No. Not the "whole thing" but there are certainly a couple players in the mix who have been less than totally supportive. (Message edited by court on November 02, 2009) |

At dealer show's I was told not to mention the VR1000 when speaking with Erik Buell. I was told it was a very sore subject! |

Fast2win, Look at the results from New Jersey in AMA Superbike if you want to know if it was fast enough. Two box stock, unrefined 1125RR's ran all weekend with the lead pack, only a few tenths of a second off the podium. Finished 6th, 7th, 8th and 12th in the two races. The 12th was Taylor Knapp after a crash; Taylor was actually quicker than Mladin in Sunday morning practice but got taken out by Bostrom when he crashed. So, yes, they were the real no BS deal. |

I still feel like a good friend has died. I have completely lost interest in watching AMA racing in 2010...all because Buells will not be in them. I went to three different races this year...I rode my S2 to two of them. Life is just not going to be the same. |

I know they did very well at NJ, but my only concern was did they or can they eventually make the power to keep up with the suzuki of Mladin. I think they were 6th behind pegramm by a sec or 2, but the track is a slower venue. When I'm looking at that chassis and big single disk, with all the design features that make these bike's capable of doing what they've done this year is amazing, it's not just the bike . It's also the rider. We 've just seen a rare occurence. With all the contreversial rule's w/11125r in Daytona Sport bike etc. Danny Eslick achieved what no other rider in the same class has done. By putting the lone Buell on the podium time after time with no other Buell in the same rank, is hard to argue. Anyone who can honestly argue a Buell 1125RR is signifantly different than any other top ten superbike's is fooling themselve's. It would be nice to know that they were only a season away from what might have been. what most men just dream of. What we haven't seen in us motorcycle manufacturing since who knows when. 1969 actually when roger reiaman won Daytona. What happened to the great motorcycle co. that once led the world. A shadow of it's former self. Refusing to build anything that resembles a performance bike. (1200xr) excluded. |

I got really depressed again walking in my local import shop to get jets for the KDX. I walked back to the "big warehouse" where they have probably 200 bikes of all makes and models and brands. Lots of sport bikes. They were as unappealing to me as if I had been walking into the Harley dealer looking at cruisers. They just don't get it. A nice Gladius that could have been a good bike, but with plastic covers everywhere and crappy suspension (and a motor that comes up just a little short). A CBR600RR that would be a fun little track bike, but a PITA for the other 99.999% of my life. A B-King that has to be the ugliest motorcycle I have ever seen. A Suzuki super motard that would give me the handling of my XB9SX (and then some) but would (as a single) be vibraty and prone to rebuild every 20k miles or less (it's hard to be a single). So all those bikes, and none that come close to my Buell. Had I been in the Buell dealer, I'd be alternating between the XT (a little bigger then I want, but oh what a nice touring and commuting bike). Or a left over STT, boy does that fit me like a glove. Or even another 9sx... what a great play bike and commuter (that can sport tour when you need it too, and do single track if it's dry ). Sigh. Oh. Back on topic. I hope there is one more season of rooting for 1125's racing! It's like the VR1000, but doesn't suck. |

Y'know what is truly frustrating? The RR gets out and FIRST TIME OUT, shows real podium potential - after HOW MANY years of racing development? Now it's compared to Gixxer race bikes with how many DECADES of racing development?? |

Well, I'd say about 30... but that's development in spite of Harley Davidson. Imagine how quick Buell could have done it if Harley was helping |

But how many RR's are out there? I know that there were 2 racing in superbike at NJ. One owned by Erik Buell Racing and the other being ridden by Taylor Knapp (Owned By??)and im sure they each had a backup bike so that makes 4 or so that we know about. Is there more? Did anyone else buy them after the great showing at NJMP? If someone wanted to buy one today could they? |

The failure to perform of the XBRR line in a world class arena like the 1125R did right out of the gate created a gaping wound that could not apparently get sutured... So, the red-headed step-child had a bastard offspring and the family decides to lock them both in the cellar and throw away the key? Hopefully, Buell will find its way out of the cellar and blaze a path of success free from the constraints and derision of the "family". |

Steve-a - seriously here. Austin deHaven and his father (Eric - with a "c") are seriously looking for a twin. http://www.austindehaven.com They live right next to Bartels and we've been talking about this for a year now. The kid is one to watch in the future and this year he turns 16 and can race in AMA classes... he's got AMA pro, FIM pro, WERA, WSMC, AFM pro licenses - all since he turned 14 in the Red Bull cup. PM me. I'll shoot you a note too. |
