I have a brand new CR and noticed a few things after the first ride. 1. I have a strange noise that sounds like thin washers rattling together when I take off and when I decel in lower gears. It sounds like it might be coming from the front end someplace. 2. About 10 miles into my first ride my guage cluster fogged up from the inside out. I'm guessing the dealer got the cluster wet when they washed it. 3. When I pulled in from about a 100 mile ride I parked it in the garage, upon walking back out to the garage 5 minutes later the entire garage smelled of gas and there was a small puddle of gas that came out of the vent tube. So for other new owners, are you getting the same thing? For the guys who have owned their 1125's for awhile what do yall think? The noise and the gas don't worry me all that much, but the cluster I think needs to be replaced. |

I noticed (2), but only when it's cold - like about 45 F. |

Don't know about #1. Take it back to the dealer for #2. #3 is normal. |

#1 is the cush drive I believe. There are several threads on it. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/403796.html #3 Most seem to do this. To much heat into the frame/fuel tank. |

Smooth, I started a thread recently about that fuel vent system stinking up my garage in a big way. You can buy and install the CA-style charcoal canister, or you can do what another person suggested - Which I did myself yesterday. Simply run a line to the outside of your garage and connect it to the vent tube when you get home from riding. A few drips outside isn't going to kill anything, but a few drips in the garage did not meet with my wife's approval! Mike |

I have a Cali bike, and on a hot day, the garage will still be full of fumes. I just park outside for a half hour or so. |

Daggar just might have convinced me to forego the CA charcoal canister install. I suppose those fumes have to vent to somewhere, charcoal-filtered or not. |

lol. Sorry. Wasn't trying to talk you out of it. It is only on hotter days that the fumes are strong. 80+. |

Daggar, I didn't really want to do it anyway ... So I was an easy target |

Mine did the same for #2 - fogged up the cluster the other day on a ride... Really annoying - anyone else have this? Dealer replace or...? |

Thanks guys... I'm going to talk to the dealer about replacing the cluster, leave the bike outside for a bit after a ride for the vent issue, and keep an ear out for the noise and check out the compensator if need be. |

My cluster has had some kinda residue on the inside of the clear plastic since day 1, but only on half the glass. I've been meaning to try and take it off to clean the inside. I haven't seen it fog up though. (Message edited by moosestang on November 02, 2009) |

I had this problem. If you do a search on "New noise" I believe, you'll see. I changed the type of oil, got rid of the Syn3, and went with Amsoil 20/50. No more sound from the front end |

My speedo as something on it too .. seems to be on the inside of the lens towards the bottom ... like fine scratches. I tried to polish it off and it's still there so it's gotta be on the inside. |

I noticed my speedo was a little foggy too but I noticed it after a ride right after it dried up from raining the past day. It cleared up but I'll keep an eye on it. If it really gets bad I'll take mine to the dealer to have it replaced or at least looked at. Sounds like it is something somewhat common. I'll wait to see how often it happens before I make a big deal out of it. |

I changed the type of oil, got rid of the Syn3, and went with Amsoil 20/50. No more sound from the front end I don't mean to come off like a jerk, but there is no way an oil switch is going to make mysterious noises go away (unless you were running 5/20 to begin or were significantly low with the first oil.) It's all in your head. |

"Daggar just might have convinced me to forego the CA charcoal canister install. I suppose those fumes have to vent to somewhere, charcoal-filtered or not." Bloody oath, why? The canister works AT EVER THE MOST ELEVATED TEMPS, including my garage on a 40+C day (well over 100F). So hot that I had to turn around during my commute and come home, given that my intake temp topped 50C. NO PETROL ODOUR. ZERO. Use the CA canister if the smell in the garage bothers you. And it's pollution friendly, as the fumes are sucked into the intake. Without the canister the petrol dissipates into the atmosphere, and is a fire hazard. |

No worries, I'll likely toss one on there when the weather makes it tough to ride ... But while it's still kind of nice, any free time I get will find me on the seat with the throttle in hand. I'm over half way through break-in; Let the fun begin Mike |

Update..... I took the bike to the dealer yesterday and my cluster was all fogged up. Guy came out took my vin and info, called Buell and they said give me a new one. So in a couple of weeks I should have a new one. I did notice that the 2010 models the cluster has a new part number so Im hoping its been improved. |

You won't get a 2010 cluster. The p/n is different because the flasher is in the IC. 2008/9 had a bulb taillight and LED signals in the rear. 2010 has bulb signals and an LED taillight, different circuit needs. Sorry Zack |
