Picked up my CR last Friday. Checked everything over Friday night and Saturday since the weather was crap. Here's the problem - both rear signals aren't working. Front signals are flashing quicker than normal. Rear signals are connected to the wiring harness (both leads for each signal) under the passenger seat but neither of them are working. I'm thinking they aren't properly connected at the flasher unit or the flasher is FU. Probably something real simple. The dealer I bought the bike from is closed today and they are also 50 miles from my home. I hate to take the bike there just for a loose or disconnected wire. Anyone know where the turn signal flasher unit is located on this bike? Help would be appreciated. |

I noticed my left rear signals stopped working yesterday. From what I have read here it is a warranty issue. Like you I am 1/2 hour from the dealer. Hate to make a special trip but I believe they replace the faulty LED. It's unlikely it's a wiring problem. The fast front indicator flashing is a result of the rears not flashing. Congrats on the new ride! |

They died on my 1125R within the first week. Supposed to be a known problem. |

Heck my bike came off the trailer. 17miles on the odo and the left one is not working. I am a little upset by this. |

Its a recall issue. The dealer will know. Happened to mine as well. There are several treads here on the issue. |

Get over it. Buell got a bad batch (albeit a HUGE batch) of signals. Dealers are warrantying without any issues. My CR had 2 dead ones. Stopped by the service counter and the writer said "Yup, we replace these often. I will call you when the new ones arrive." Easy. |

Thanks for the quick responses! I'm surprised BOTH of the rear signals are junk. I'll take your word for it though. |

Both of mine are dead also, same thing as yours, fronts are blinking fast. Trailered the bike home, has 14 miles on the odometer. The dealer I bought it from is 200 miles away, so I'm a little PO'd |

Is the closest dealer 200 miles? Any dealer should be able to assist with warranty work. ac |

Take the screw out of the lens. Remove lens. Remove any inner screws that hold the circuit board to the housing (I forget if / how many there are). The board plugs into the wiring inside the housing. Doublecheck the connections there. If possible, reverse them (don't remember if they're different sizes or not, but LEDs are pole-sensitive). What's your build date? Thought the majority of the problems were on '08 Rs...but if its an "early" '09... |

Fixed. Anyway, yes, bad batch. 500 miles on my 08 R and 5500 on my 09 CR, and to date I have not lost a single signal. |

quote Is the closest dealer 200 miles? Any dealer should be able to assist with warranty work. I have (had??) dealerships closer, my point was 1) don't they check these bikes before they send them out the door? I called them the day before to verify all the recalls had been done before I picked it up and 2) now I have to load it back up on a trailer to get it to a dealer because the plate I was going to transfer over expired on my BD Friday, and besides that I'm still trying to find reasonable insurance for this thing (another story) or just wait until next Spring to have it taken care of Just kind of ticks me off that they didn't physically go over the bike before I picked it up, just looked up the info for the recalls in the computer... |

IS the turn signal a RECALL or is it just a high failure item tat buell replaces as they fail under warranty? I bet its the latter. My 08R has been fine so far, but then again next week the signals could go out. OR maybe they will last for years.... |

There is no recall, service program or anything for the turn signals. |

Yep, right rear signal went out. Didn't feel like taken it in. Put after markets on. But a week later the clutch weep (spit) showed up. That is fixed now also. This bike fantastic and is so much fun. C. |

right rear signal was out from day out. I guess the dealership didn't give it a look over like I asked. |

The dealer replaced both defective signals yesterday. I asked them why they weren't checked prior to me picking up the bike. The response I received was "we almost never check the signals on a brand new bike". Add that comment to the list of things that make you go hmmmmmm. |

Mine are out. Looks like I have to take it back. I'm pretty close to the 620 service, so I'll try and schedule it to coincide. Oh well. |

Funny, just did the Jardine tail swap yesterday and the left rear turn signal is either completely off or completely on depending on which leads I connect. When I connected to the original leads it just stays on regardless of whether the turn signal switch activated. When activated front blinks rapidly. Thinking I somehow confused the leads AND failed a 50/50 chance I swapped connections with the right turn signal and it doesn't illuminate at all. Still sound like bad turn signal or did I bung up the leads? Nels |
