i would like to put an aftermarket exhaust that has a nice deep rumble to it...im dont want to buy a tuner, ect. if i lose a pony or two mid/ low or upper, im fine with it. what slip on can i buy and install and have my stock bike run w/o messing with tuning? thanks |

If you find it let me know. I dont think it exists. From what Ive found there is only 2 options, Quiet and Waaaay loud. Im gonna chop mine and see what I can do. |

I remember putting the race kit muffler on my '00 X1, the one you could control the sound of with the disks. Man did that thing sound awesome! I don't see many (any?) similar options for the 1125's - None that aren't crazy loud and/or crazy expensive that is. I do kind of like the mid-range sound of the factory piece ... Have to see how it sounds once I can go past 6K - 7.5K If you find anything like you describe, lots of us will be interested! Mike |

The thing you seek is being worked upon. There are several options for aftermarket, but most are extremely loud. Time will tell, maybe even as early as tomorrow morning. Just depends on what time I get my butt out of bed. |

I love the sound of my Drummer. Especially since I put a roll of Stainless screen inside it to "soften" the sound a little. My modified stocker was close, but the Drummer has a growl like an F1 Indy car. Zack |

Zac, Did you refuel/map the bike after the drummer? I'm looking at options to shed weight on my track bike and not sure what might be a good choice. *WEIGHT* is my #1 concern. Period. But, after that, a bike that performs well between 6k and a redline is important. I'd be happy with a flat performance gain if I could shed 10-12 lbs. (that's 2HP, afterall) |

Jim - yes. I have added fuel, retarded timing at idle(800-2200rpm/0-10% TPS) advanced timing 10-15% from 2500 rpm to 8k rpm and advanced 5-10% up to redline. I have a K&N and a Drummer and last dyno showed a 5-10 HP gain from 5-8k rpm and 2-3 HP on top over original stock with the 03Z flash(the best one so far for power). Zack |

What tools did you use to tune, if I may ask? |

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. |

Zack - You "retarded"...the low speed timing? Why would you do that? I do agree with your advanced timing higher up. Makes the drivability and throttle response much better. By the way, something in the 1125's ECM doesn't allow a timing change at idle. I've messed with it several times, trying different settings. If you use the ECM Spy with the engine running, you'll see that it doesn't start advancing until after the throttle is opened...and even then, somewhat slowly, until it gets near 2000rom. It also...starts very low when the engine is cold...then as the engine starts to warm, the timing climbs. If you can call 4 or 5 total degrees climbing...! Mike P.s. - sorry for hijacking the exhaust thread |
