What kind of MPG is everybody getting.I'm at 1000mi. and it seems to be stuck on about 30ish. 08R and I dont baby it around.Bike is schedualed to go in for some recall work next week. I don't know what flash it has in it now, I assume the 131. No problem with power, wheelies,tire breaking lose when I don't need it,etc.Runs so good I dont know if I want another flash just to gain mpg.Not trying to jack another thread on here about this but I don't want to regret it. | ||

53mpg was my best tank on my 09 CR. 230 miles before the gas light came on, then when I stopped it took only 4.4 gallons. Its too soon to tell on my new 08R. | ||

I have just over 200 miles and got 35.4 my first tank and 30 my second. If you want good gas mileage, then you need to be in 6th gear as quickly as possible. Cruising around at 6k rpms is not going to get you great mileage. | ||

I usually keep my rpms around 5,000 on my daily commute. I easily average 40mpg on 2 lane backroads. If I drop a gear and run in the low 4,000 rpms I get 44-46 mpg. It's just too much fun at 5,000 rpm, I'll suffer the extra coin. | ||

I just did my first fill-up on my 09CR and pumped in 4.7 gallons after 164 miles. The fuel light came on a little before 150 miles. That is awesome range for me. After filling up I switched the console to report instantaneous mileage and noticed the best estimated occurs when the engine is running about 3100rpms. My average was about 35mpg for that tank and that was with a lot of twisting up to 6K and falling back. I love the sound the throttle bodies make in the mid range, but that is also the sound of extra gas being sucked out of the tank. I am mostly ok with the fact that I won't get the average 55mpg that my XB9 gets... but at least I can go farther between tanks on my CR. | ||

I'm only at 160 miles on my 09R, and the average fuel mileage display is showing 34 mpg. Although in my break-in, I'm not exactly babying it either ... Just keeping it below 6K best I can. I've had Vipers that got 1/3 that good of mileage and weren't nearly as fast. I did find 6th for the first time today, so maybe that nudged me up a bit. Mike | ||

I'm not to far off of what the rest seem to be getting.I keep rpm at 3500-4000 for instant hard roll on's.The sound and feel between 5000-8000 lets me know it was money well spent.Also that perma grin I get when I out accelerate,out corner,out brake,the youngsters on the I4's in this small town I live in  | ||

I've only got one legit tank through so far, 37.5 MPG. 165 miles, only took 4.4 gallons. A little early for the fuel light, but not too shabby. I'm considering pricing intake boots, supposedly the injectors are repositioned for better mileage, and if I could go 230 before the light it'll be worth it! | ||

Well if I chill I can get in the mid to high 40's, if I get rowdy it can get in the low 30's. If I wanted MPG i'd get a Vespa scooter, ooopppps this bike cost less than a Vespa. I guess I should look at getting better mileage ... not. | ||

Or you could pickup a Blast for daily duty dirt cheap. Tires are next to free, and it gets 85mpg. Why put the wear and tear on a super sport?  | ||

Froggy, wish you had'nt reminded me of the tire issue. That will over shadow all MPG.I just thought the 12s was a tire eater. This thing seems to break rear tire loose a lot. | ||

On my ZX-14 I get about 3k miles per rear. Basically, gas at $3.00 a gallon is the break-even point. Below that I'm paying more per mile in tires than in gas. KeS | ||

Oh yeah and your R is suppose to get better millage than the CR. At the buell website its rated 3 mpg better street and 6 mpg better highway. More aerodynamic I suppose or the gears are a little diff. (Message edited by Bob_Saggot on November 02, 2009) | ||

Sometimes threads like this make me think there's something wrong with mine. Mine never seems to change from about 32 MPG, no matter how hard I ride. 40s? I wish. | ||

Getting 40+ MPG is an exercise in consistent, relatively low speed (55-65) highway riding with the wind behind you (or not much at all), and on VERY HARD TIRES inflated to full pressure. That makes a huge difference in MPG. Basically, you are sacrificing cornering traction for gas mileage and tire life. I get very low 20s on the track, 29-31 in the mountain. My 1125r are toys, so I don't bother riding them on the slab. That said, I need to go down to Austin this week and break in the new motor, so I think I'm just going to slab the new '09 down there. I'll report back what kind of MPG I get. I'll be running a track-day take off tire, so I don't mind if it squares off since it's already at the wear bar on the sides (well, left side) anyway. | ||

I get 30 tank after tank. Mostly surface roads, and I'm not gentle. Tires, 3-4k on the rear, 7500-8k on the front. Bout the same as I got on the XB12S. R | ||

Dc29, sounds like you might have the original ecm program. My mpg was 28 to 30 with the original. I do a lot of stop and go city driving so that hurts it. After the third flash my mpg jumped up to 36 or more in the city. | ||

Jdugger, I get 40's typical with 53 being my peak average over a tank, yet run stock Diablo Corsa 3 tires at book pressures on my CR. Riding technique has a big role to play, and usually I am not riding in a way that is wasteful. I plan on running hard compound tires with high pressure on my R, as my goal is 60mpg on that. | ||

I'm getting 30 to 35 -- 30 if I'm having fun, 35 if I'm taking it easy. I have a smart fortwo convertible. It gets better mileage than the 1125CR. But it has less than 1/2 the horsepower and a smaller engine (1L vs 1.12L). | ||

The lower MPG, the better. Grin factor and fuel mileage are inversely proportionate on this bike. If you bought this bike for economy or even decent economy, you will be very disappointed! Big, short stroke twins like to suck up the dino-juice!!! | ||

107 miles on the odometer, 09 CR...29 showing in the AVG display. Haven't tanked up yet, so no calculator-mileage yet. Really...I don't care. My Uly and my tubers get in the 40s-50s, dead-consistent. The CR is just a toy - and it fulfills that role VERY well. I haven't even been north of 6k RPM or 1/2 throttle yet! C'mon, break-in!!! |
