The engagement point seems to vary with available vacuum assist. With loads of vac, it engages about 80-90% lever out which is no problem other than adjusting for reach. However, I noticed that when the vac is down, say when going to upshift when passing, the clutch seems to need a lot more pull and release is all the way in (as in pull lever all the way to the grip). This was a little disconcerting with the lever at '4' and I had to 'rely' on the vacuum to get the clutch to release. Not fun when you're in the passing lane. Hopefully this is not normal. I bled it but this does not appear to have made a difference. | ||

Doesn't sound like it. My 09CR is 80-90% out at the same place all the time. I'm shopping for levers right now since that's way too far out for my stubby paws. KeS | ||

My R is about the same 80-90%. Same problem, I have trouble working at the end of the levers travel. To used to the XB I guess. I have found that some throttle before release does move the engagement point more towards the middle. | ||

Hm. My CR upshifts smoother and cleaner with no clutch at all, just preload-shifting (on throttle, upward pressure on shifter, quick snap-off on the throttle for a split second to change the load on the gearset, lever snicks right up into the next gear). When I do use the clutch for an up, I haven't noted any change in friction point. Downshifts are also consistent. Grab the clutch, light blip on the throttle, snick the shifter down, drop the lever, and let the slipper do its job. I can't WAIT until I'm through with break-in  | ||

My 09R engagement points, up and down, no matter the RPM's or conditions seem to be exactly the same. I've only put about 260 miles on it, but never once thought of what the clutch is doing. Shifts better than any bike I've ever owned! Mike | ||

thanks fellas, yeah the clutch started out that way...super consistent release/engagement points....good idea on the clutchless shifts Joe... yeah, got miles to go yet on break-in |
