I found a deal I'm happy with for an 08 at 5100, but worried about issues vs an 09. I've got a dealer that says they'll order me a CR for 5500, but I'm worried if it doesn't come then I have nothing. What do you guys think? |

What's your gut tell you? I typically go with that ... I can't think of anything on an '08 that isn't fixable. Although I went with an '09 (mostly for the white/blue), I do like the gear indicator on the '09, but it's not life and death of course. I would have been perfectly happy with the '08 as well. Definitely a steal at those prices! Mike |

I ordered an 09 1125R on 10/19. I placed the order over the phone. He told me then that it would be about a week. Signed the contract the next day. Then he told me it could be 3 weeks or more. Called the dealer Wednesday and they said they had my order in and were awaiting confirmation from Buell. BTW I live 8 miles from the Buell factory and the dealer is 30 miles from the Buell factory. This anxiety is killing me... go with the 08? |

Damn Jim! I only ordered mine the 28th, salesman said he figured he'd be getting the bikes in a week or two but had to wait for confirmation from Buell. I wonder how long I should give them before trying to find one in stock??? |

Dealer told me if I ordered now it would come in December & that a confirmation wasn't a guarantee, they have gotten confirmed orders on 4 they ordered on Tuesday but that doesn't ensure they'll fulfill the order necessarily considering the situation. |

If Buell confirmed the orders, didn't they send them the vin. numbers? |

I think there will be a fair amount of people that ordered 09's that are going to be SOL. I think the dealers are selling more bikes than they can get their hands on. I would of bought one in 08...but had just bought an Ultra when these spectacular machines came out. My timing is always for a shit. Jim |

Dman - I've got an '08 which I ride the sh*t out of - salvage title and still ZERO problems. Get the fueling sorted (O S B)and I think you'll be fine. |

Call this number and ask for Jarad or Danny they were both pretty helpful and last time I was there they had a few Rs and CRs left 7578727223 |

I went for the 08 and it is running fine. They fixed all of the issues before I picked her up. What a blast. |

I think my gut is leaning towards a bird in the hand, I'm mostly worried about not getting one at all. With the 08, it's saving about $2K over the next cheapest 09, that's a nice mods budget. |

Dman I've ridden metric bikes my entire life, but after talking with a Buell salesman/enthusiast I switched over to a '08 1125R. I've put about 400 miles on it so far and absolutely love it. Just make sure they have all the current ECM/fuel mapping done and you shouldn't have any problems. Like anything else you may have problems, but you have a two year warranty and for $5,100, you are getting a ton of bike for the price. I get all giddy every time I jump on this thing and wasn't willing to pay an extra grand for a '09 with a gear indicator and rear bobbins. |

2008s were fine when there was full Buell support from the dealers. I HOPE this continues, but I went with a 2009 due to the few upgrades and the fact that the 2008 "bugs" should not be present in the 09s. If we thought going to the dealer before was an adventure, I fear it will be really bad in the coming years. It was fully worth the extra grand I spent on the 09 R. Remember i have been on an early build 2008 for almost 2 years, so I have plenty of early adapter experience. I am only looking at the current and my guess as to future situations with parts and dealer support. |

Dman, I went with the '09 ... But would NOT have if the difference was $2K like you mentioned. And not ALL of the '08 bugs were worked out by '09 - Reference mine needing the clutch weep fix prior to my taking delivery. I wouldn't dare tell you what to do - But a bird in the hand sure thing, at $2K less for basically the same bike. I know what I would have done given that same set of variables. |

I would not have paid $2,000 more for the 09. $1,000 seemed fair. CLutch weep wasn't solve in 2009, true. I also like the black frame, improved fuel injectors, gear indicator, swingarm spools, RevB clutch cover, black heat shield |

Same here Fresno - My difference was $1K, and the '09 advantages (and for me, the white/blue combo) were worth it. But $2K ... That might have been a bridge too far. And unlike Dman, I had both sitting in front of me as 'right now' choices. Given the post 10/15 madness, I would not have a lot of confidence that an ORDERED '09 bike was ever going to make it to my garage. Sometimes going with the sure thing (especially with a significant price difference) is the best move. |

Oh and don't forget the 08 is the first year and you get the 25th Anniversary plaque with Eriks signature. That makes it worth more in 30 or 40 years. |

That makes it worth more in 30 or 40 years. Take the extra grand and buy a good mutual fund. Guess which one will be worth more in 30-40 years? I'll take the mutual fund. |

I don't know if Loretta will be worth much in 30 years at the rate I'm going. 22 thousand miles and at LEAST 50 thousand smiles so far. Zack |
