Anyone have any experience with this? I got an 04' XB12R and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on up grading to an 1125. What were your impressions, taste, and if you miss it. Thanks

i went from an xb9s to an 1125cr. i have the high bar on the CR and the ergos are actually pretty similar. the CR might be a bit more committed while the XB has slightly more dirtbike leanings.

the power difference is amazing BUT my GF has an 08 z1000 that i ride a lot as well so the power increase wasn't too much of a shock for me.

oh and i still have my XB

Same here -- XB9S for three years or so, then I picked up a Uly & a CR in one week. At this point, I can't say that I have any regrets at all. A transmission that shifts like buttah with 20% of the lever effort compared to either my 9 or my Uly, mondo power at any rpm, and brakes that feel like I drove into a lake. I love all the info available from the instrument cluster, and the headlights are FAR superior. All that, and I can hold on to both handgrips while waiting at a red light and still read the license plate that's right in front of me.

Anyone want to buy a nice '03 XB9S? Or an '01 Blast? Or a '90 model ZX11?

I just got rid of my XB12 for an 1125CR. It's definitely a trade-off .. The unique rumble of a Harley V-Twin SportBike in exchange for power and acceleration in almost and identical frame.

I miss my XB12Scg and it's ergonomics, looks and translucid plastics. But whenever I ride the CR I forget all about it. It you can see past the PODS you see an XB in every 1125 out there ...

I just kept em both but the CR is definitly the more aggressive machine the XB is no slouch I like carving on the CR but I like country curves better on the XB mind you I don't have a ton of time on the CR the xb is more I guess agile would work at low speeds and has quite a bit more low end grunt off clutch to me but acceleration is 2 fold on the CR the ZTL 2 is phenomenal so I gotta say the ergos are pretty equal The main difference is the slipper clutch man that thing is cool

Rode XB9 from 2003 to 2007. Missed it the moment I traded for a FZ1. Traded the FZ1 for a 1125CR, don't miss the FZ1.

Feels like home again.

I had an 05 12R and traded it in for a 1125R. The test ride was all I needed to make the decision.

The main differences that I have noticed besides the power are:
-The 1125 seems to corner better, This may be due to having newer tires on the bike, but with the 12 I had to initiate the lean, on the 1125 it is more like I just think about it.
-I had a D&D on the 12 and it sounded great, but it was loud and I did not miss it initially on the 1125. I was hanging out with a couple 12s with D&D pipes over the weekend and I will admit it made me miss it. I will be on a quest to get a little more sound out of the 1125 this winter.
-The 12 makes you want to hit the twisties, while the 1125 makes you want to hit the twisties and an occasional straight.

If I made the choice again I would still go with the 1125.

I have an '06 XB12R and just got my '08 1125R 2 days ago and WOW.....Acts just like the 12R but will more of everything. More power, more revs, more fun....just plain MORE!

Gonna keep the 12R just to say that i Have the best of both worlds, liquid cooled and air cooled.

To me, there is a TON more engine noise on the 1125 compared to the 12R, but it sounds pretty cool to me.

Pretty much the exact same riding position and handling of the XB so i was comfortable from the start with taking it in corners, but i just had to get use to that extra pull the 1125 brings out of the corners, its just amazing how much more it has than the 12R.

I'm not gonna stop riding the 12R just for the fact that i love the sound and feel of the motor, but i'm definitely gonna be riding the 1125 more cause that little kid in me takes over.

I had an XB and once I got on the 1125r, I forgot all about it. The R is more refined in every way and has the motor to back up the chassis.

I kept my XB12R when I bought my 1125R, I had spent a small fortune on the XB and for the next year rode both bikes on alternate days at the weekends.
To be honest they are both great bikes, the low and midrange torque of the XB compared to the great close ratio gearbox of the 1125R and its top end rush.
You will not regret changing to the 1125R, towards the end of last year I found that I was riding the XB less and less, the 1125R is addictive and I wouldn't swap it for any other bike

The only thing I miss about my 9R is the sound. I had a race pipe and there is just no better sound, even though the lawnmowing lobsta is growing on me.
One thing though, maybe its just cause the bolt was broken in, but it seemed much smoother. Not the throttle or clutch or anything, but i just feel like my 09 CR just buzzes all over the place. Ill deal with it cause its such an amazing bike. Best I've ever owned.

My first Buell was an 03 XB9R, my little brother in Texas has it now.
Loretta, my 1125R is the best bike I have ever ridden, love it.
With a Drummer on, I don't miss the sound of my XB anymore.

Zack

Yea the XB was great handling machine but the engine always left you wanting more. The 1125 is everything the XB is but JUST MORE and MORE. The power this thing has is unreal. I'm a novice rider and just like to cruize around and all my front tires stay on the ground. Just will take some time to get use to the power. I do miss the XB sound though..

I currently have two 1125's, a XB12SS, and a Blast. Also had a Uly in the past. The 1125's do everything the XB's do but much better. I have little to no desire to fix my XB and get it back on the road. I am done with the air cooled Buell's, and wouldn't ride the Blast if it didn't get 85mpg.

I've got THE progression in the garage: '95 S2, 98 S1W, (Kim's) 01 M2L, 06 Uly, and now (with 39 miles) '09 CR.

I go from tuber to XB, and I can feel the quantum leaps from carb to EFI, from tube frame to fuel-in-frame, from pretty good balance to mass centralization...the tubers aren't "bad", but you can definitely see the difference.

Now that I can go from XB to Loki...it's that same leap forward, about the same amount of progress. Definitely a progression as opposed to a revolution; I can feel the roots, but omiGOD what a bike.

I just have to get used to the slow-speed steering with clubmans. Weird having my hands that far in front of the steering pivot.

bingo thats what I trying to get at couldn't figure it out thanks Rat. I have been saying the XB is more agile at low rev's I think I am realising the CR is way different with my hand positioning and that makes me awkward not the other way round
Dang now I can work my problem

Had a XB9SX with almost every aftermarket part for that last couple of years. Absolutely love that bike, and never see myself coming the other way, ever. Handles the mountain roads like a dream, sounds incredible with a D&D, super comfy and gets 58 MPG to boot. Just picked up the last 1125R in Lake Mary FL yesterday. Even though I'm still breaking it in, it is almost a completely different bike in that it is so superior. It feels similar leaned over (meaning incredibly solid), but steering effort is actually a bit more because the bars are lower, narrower and further forward than the XB9S. I had a 2001 Aprilia Mille R and the 1125R just reminds me a lot of it, except the heavier steering. That Mille R was one of the overall best bikes I've ever owned, and the 1125R seems almost like 9 years of technology improved upon it.

I agree with the previous statement that the XB had more "character" with the Harley rumble. However my sentiment is exactly the same, when I ride the 1125 its capabilities are so much more while retaining its "uniqueness" that I don't even thing about the XB.

As a streetbike, I actually prefer the 1125R to my MV Agusta F4 1000R, and that's saying a lot.

Jeff

I dont ever see me getting rid of my XB. Dont get me wrong, the 1125 is an amazing piece. I can see me having the urge to ride them both. When Im in the mood for something raw I will ride the XB. When Im in the mood for refined, I will ride the 1125.

I just went from an xb9r too an 1125r and honestly have not had it long enough too give an opinion other than I am freaking stoked. I will say I loved my xb9r and it was hard too let go of just can't afford both right now. That bike was good too me. I expect the same if not more from this one. The look I love with the power too back up how fast it looks : ).

Loved my 1125r so much I went and got a Ulysses for two up touring. Love the bike but am trying to get used to less revs and power . Go for the 1125 you will love all the things that make it a buell and be constantly amazed by the new engine. Do kinda wish I could have a stable of buells though.

Weight? For the fairings? I think the box they ship in weighs more than the fairings themselves...my WAG (wild a$$ guess) is they're less than 10 lbs including bracketry. Maybe less than 5.

Isn't it great that a motorcycle company with so many great motorcycles is now not operating ??

There are motorcycle companies that sell half the bikes that Buell sell, and they are running just fine !

H-D is STUPID !
