Just a question I was thinking about. Could Buell come back with the backing of another motorcycle company? After riding this CR I feel that it is such a waste. This thing is solid and I think the attention to detail and fit and finish are right up there. |

Doubt it, sure harley has some legal rights to the name now, And Erik F. Buell is getting up there in years, and enjoyed his 25 plus years doing it. But agree with you, just when they got a great package they end production. But is there a market for a 3rd or 4th V twin, upper end product, already have the Ducati's Aprillia's and Agusta Buell would just been an add on in that market. there's two parts to every sale... A buyer and a seller. And both have to be willing participants. |

Why do SO many people who SHOULD know better INSIST on spelling his name "Eric???" On a Ducati board, maybe... but a Buell board?? |

I want KTM to buy Buell. Since our motor is Austrian (Rotax). KTM is Austrian they have their 75 degree V twin in their Super Duke. KTM would make the most sense. |

Hahahaha . . . let me guess. . . one of the crew who just today learned to spell "Erik". has lectured on who owns the patents, what various contracts say and who's doing what. Lord . . . save us from the Internet.

With the demeanor displayed, it does not look very promising! It has not been very long though, alot of decisions can be made! I took from the video with Erik Buell's announcement, the first and last time I watched it, he was and will be, maybe not excited or happy, but content with working with Harley Davidson in the future? Only Erik knows the answer to that! Some on here would like to make one believe they already have his answer on the future plans, if any, for Buell! Again, "optimism is what it is, and facts are what they are", and the facts are overwhelming optimism at this point, in my opinion! Patience and time hold the true results for Buell, all we can do is enjoy the ones we have and hope for the best! |

my vote for perfect fit for buell would be polaris. They seem to be a company that's not afraid to take risks and release products that are different. Also they're american. Ktm has they're own proprietary motor and moto designs. They're not going to abandon all their work and r&d to buy what is essentially the same motors from someone else. Polaris doesn't have a sportbike line.and can easily incorporate buell designs since the would be starting from scratch. |

Erik is punished for buying a Rotax engine for using on Buell bikes....... I was asking for a modern v2 engine for Buells, but if I knew back then that this would make H-D close Buell, I would never wish for that engine. The new updated&reliable thunderstorm engine + ZTL2 would have made a big step for the XB, and maybe the Buell factory would still be open. I feel sad for all the people that makes a living from the bussiness around Buell motorcycles. I will keep my beloved XB12R for ever, so I will be supporting them! I wish H-D sells the manufacturing site of Buell to a China company. Benelli was bought by the Chinese and they are still being manufactured in Italy. The China goverment is always trying to expand. That would be so idiotic that it would feel good to me........... American jobs saved by a Chinese corporation....Doesn't it sound great ???? |

We can sit here and speculate about what is to come. I amount that to the same as shitting in one hand, and wishing in the other and speculating on which one fills up first. On the bright side of the "announcement" made, we do not have to worry if Buell will be around. All we can do from here is continue to be owners, riders, racers and support whatever efforts are being made to keep it alive. ONLY good news can happen from this point. One reason I have stayed out of "HD owns this" "HD is going to do that" comments is because NONE of US have ANY idea what is going to happen, what has actually been done, or where it will lead. The amount of speculation and "facts" being generated from some of the people on this board is simply amazing. Granted, there are many members here with real world experience that can provide a serious look at how things work in this corporate world. But, some people grab info and it dwells in their brain buckets and festers and mutates into something even worse when they repeat that information over the internet. When I am asked about this ordeal from my IL4 friends, I give them facts and say that the worst has happened, all it can do is get better from here. Who knows what will happen, I for one, am not going to let this effect my choices of motorcycles, how I feel about the brand, or my support of Buell and the Elves. Sorry for the rant, it hasn't been long since the "announcement" and many of us are still upset. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on things, but facts are a little more concrete than opinions and the fact is, none of us have any facts right now. Pun intended. In a magical, hypothetical world... If the option had been given to sell Buell. I am not sure if Polaris would be a "grass is greener" approach. At first I thought, yeah Victory and Buell and ATVs on the same showroom! That's great! And it would be great to see all those American products together under the same roof. I am starting to think now maybe the best bet would be for Buell to become it's own entity. Although...anything that keeps the workers employed is fine with me. I remain optimistic. I hope you all, do as well. |

Whatever happened to the rumor the ERIK was in Canada meeting with Polaris??? How about BRP in Canada? Polaris Industries Inc. is headquartered just outside of Minneapolis. Then he went up to Tuktoyaktuk to lecture engineering at TUK U... |

No. Simply, no. The brand will continue on with the bikes that were built, and on the servicing dealers for 7-10 years. It is GONE as a motorcycle manufacturing company. Forever. As for Erik and elves, who knows? |

I predict Harley Davidson will introduce an air-cooled, 1200cc sportbike that bears a shocking resemblance to the XB. It will stagnate in design and update from the day it's released, be relatively slow in sales, and "confirm" to the geniuses at Harley that the sportbike market isn't work it. You know, the truth is, if you don't know how to ride, getting on a bike that really provides something to the rider is just going to scare you. Hence, people that buy cruisers. |

I don't so much have an allegiance to Buell the brand as I do to Erik Buell the man, and to the talented, dedicated team that helped him build Buell brand motorcycles. I hope that Erik Buell does whatever makes him happiest. While I'd love to see him heading up another cutting edge motorcycle company, I might be just as happy to see him smiling in photos as he fished in the the Florida Keys, built experimental airplanes, or just tinkered in his barn. I'll just have to ride a little more carefully and perform maintenance more conscientiously so that I can give the remaining manufacturers time to catch up before I need to find a replacement for my Buells.
