It seems that my 2000 M2 has a warped front brake rotor. I only have about 7500 miles on it. I am looking for a replacement, but really having a hard time finding one. OEM or aftermarket? Where should I get it from? Can my original be resurfaced? I am not trying to break the bank, but stopping is important. |

It may not be warped. I might have hard spots that cause the pulsing. Some pads leave deposits that change the surface of the rotor, the deposits are not even all the way around. Changing pads has helped some (including me) in the past. I put on a set of Lyndahl (sp?) Golds (from American Sport Bike)and broke them in according to the directions (really important). The pulsing went away. Might be worth a try. Brad (Message edited by bluzm2 on October 27, 2009) |

If you're feeling pulsing in the front end, uneven deposition layer may be the culprit, and Lyndall pads, or others, may eliminate it entirely. However, if there is pulsing in the lever itself, that is indicative of a warped rotor and pads aren't going to cure it. Once upon a time, the OEM replacement rotor was about half that of the aftermarket alternatives, and there is not a thing wrong with the 2000 spec 9 button OEM rotor (avoid 99 and prior 6 button rotors). But if I was putting a new one on my bike today, I'd probably put the Ferodo rotor (6056, here: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/6056.html) on. Or a wave rotor. The pricing on the OEM rotor is no longer compelling. AL |

Very good point Al, I should have mentioned that. Didn't even think to put it down as I kind of automatically factor that in when I have problems like that. Same this as a car.... sort of.. |

if it is a warped rotor, get the wave, don't get a stealth, when it first arrived after a looooooong wait it was the wrong size"all other rotors where the right size"then after another looooooong wait it arrived, its heavier than stock,it do,s look good though, but not recommended, |
