I was getting ready to do the bar swap today, but the driving rain on my carport dampened my enthusiasm. For those considering installing the accessory bars, I've created a PDF of the kit's instruction sheet: http://www.anti-spam.org/1125CR Handlebars.pdf You can see what is involved, decide if you're up to the task or whether you would prefer a dealer do it. I am VERY impressed with the quality of the kit. The handlebars are by Magura which is like saying that brakes are by Brembo or suspension is by Ohlins. They are top-quality, pre-drilled for for positioning of the electrical switches, and clearly silk-screened with alignment marks for the bar clamp and controls. The brake and clutch hydraulic lines include rubber bushings and pre-positioned clamps for attachment to the bike. They also include the banjo bolts and copper sealing washers on each end. Throttle cables (2) include all fittings and are equivalent in quality to the stock cables. Also included is the clutch side hand grip. There is literally nothing you need to buy beyond the kit -- other than DOT4 fluid. I hope that this proves useful. Thanks! I'll be tackling this myself once my HandleBar kit comes in ... already ordered it. You think a quart of DOT 4 will be enough? FYI .. I ordered the Service manual along with the handlebar kit . Dan | ||

Dan, I recommend buying two pints rather than one quart. Once it's opened, it can absorb moisture, so if you can use one and leave one closed (very likely you won't need more than a pint), it will store better. I found a dealer who had overstock on the manuals and I'd rather buy from them than have my money go directly to HD in the form of a special order. (Yeah, I'm still p*ssed off about what HD did to Buell.) | ||

you can keep the lh grip as a spare if you take off the old one by using compressed air between the grip and bar, all the way around and move it off the bar while it is loose.  | ||

dealer i spoke to says that it does not come with a grip... spill the beans on the dealer..i would like to get a set of books (Message edited by nickg on October 26, 2009) | ||

The instructions said it comes with a clutch-side grip. I said it comes with a clutch side grip. (But what do I know? I just bought and installed the kit.) If you choose to believe the dealer, I'm sure they will be willing to charge you for a grip.  | ||

Fmax, Thanks for posting this. My brother-in-law and myself ordered the kit from the dealer today - it's nice to have the parts list so we can check the parts off to be sure these are complete before we leave the dealer. |
