Where did the pictures go...?

But the weather was sooo nice, so I kept going on my Uly. I took off about 12:15... I had already forgot I had an Eye exam scheduled for 4:30... Oops.

Headed toward Canyon lake cause that's a short day loop ride with some technical roadway, good views, etc...

But I have generally turned around at the Fisher Canyon lookout just shortely after the pavement ends. I decided to keep exploring.

Next thing I know I'm at Apache Lake

Apache Lake Vista

Then Roosevelt Lake

RooseveltLakeDam

Route 188 Bridge

Roosevelt Bridge

By that time I decided to make the loop back through Claypool, Miami, Superior.

Roosevelt Lake Loop

Total loop was 190 miles. 20 miles on dirt road (from D to E) with great views, some steep grades, some tight turns, first gear, slip the clutch, stttuuuutttteerrrr bummmmmpppppssssss. The Uly did great.

I arrive in my garage at 4:25 and my wife comes out while I'm shedding my gear "don't you have a Dr. appointment... like right now?" Slap my hand to my forehead, throw on the gear and rush to the appointment and arrive only 5 minutes late.

I get home I remember the water bottle I tossed in the trunk on the way out. It was destroyed, but hey, the trunk holds water.

What a good ride.

Post Edit. On the way back about 30 miles from home I was marveling how smooth everything felt at 4KRPM, happy as a lark. Just as I was having that thought, a distinct change in vibration. Bad enough that I scurried to the right lane in case I needed to pull into the emergency lane. Slowed down to 70 and it felt better so I just kept going. Tried a few different RPM and 4K was definitely the sweet spot for the most severe vibration.

Happy to say this morning I started to examine the front engine mount, looked okay, started it up with ECMSpy attached did some checks, everything looks okay. I was really pleased that my AFV was 99. Megalogviewer does wonders.

So as I am examining the bike with the motor idling away I see a flicker of silver below the chin guard. The front muffler strap was broken. Yea!!! Easy fix and I was glad it wasn't a difficult-to-get-at repair.

I read on here last night some words of wisdom. The Buell will tell you when something is wrong, and she certainly did. It was subtle, but she spoke to me.

The ONLY comment from my wife was "I wish you would have told me you were going to do that". All I could say was it was spur of the moment. Frankly it was out of character for me. I usually at minimum let my family know that I'm heading out and what the general route will be and when I think I’ll be back. And then on top of that I would usually do an excursion like that with a buddy.

I guess the Buell and the weather was just motivating me too much that day to keep going.
