I'd love to lose the weight of that heavy stock exhaust, and I wouldn't mind a somewhat fuller sound from the bike, but I really would rather it weren't excruciatingly loud. Are any of the aftermarket pipes available relatively quiet? |

I would also love to know which exhaust is working the best for the 1125cr. don't want it overly loud but would love to lose weight and pick up some power as well. |

All of the aftermarket options are pretty loud. They all go straight through with practically zero for baffling. Perforated pipe/tubing, and either steel wool packing or maybe ceramic. I don't think there's been a dyno shootout yet, but top of the line, ie; big $$, go with either Drummer or Torque Hammer. Personally I think both are kinda high, but thats just my opinion. You do get what you pay for I suppose. The stock can weighs somewhere around 21-22 lbs and most of the aftermarket ones are 10-12 lbs. Mods to the stock can are in the works, just don't have the go-ahead just yet to cut on the one I have sitting here. Of course, you can always go with the FMF Ti full system at about $2700 too. |

I'm also in the market for an aftermarket exhaust.I'd like something with a deeper sound and a little more power. It seems these aren't cheap enough to just go and buy them till you find the one you like and the sound clips I've found aren't that great on quality. It would be nice if someone has tried a few and could give us a little write up of their opinions. Or did I miss one in the search? |

If you want a QUIET aftermarket pipe, look to Europe. Trojan sells a number of exhausts that are "E Certified" for the street. Be prepared to pay dearly for them though as the dollar isn't doing well against the Euro. I like the Remus myself as far as looks are concerned. And it's made of STAINLESS steel!! Just remember that "E-Certified" still isn't "legal" in the United States as they aren't EPA approved, but you're not likely to be pulled over by the police because you won't be making enough noise to disturb the peace. On the downside, if that IDIOTIC law gets passed in NYC, your bike can be ticketed or impounded EVEN IF IT IS PARKED if the police do not see the EPA stamp. |

New guys; my impressions... Jardine RT-5; loud, snappy sounding HMF; loud, deeper than the Jardine FMF; loud, deeper than Jardine, not as deep as the HMF D&D; very (very) loud, snappy Torque Hammer; somewhat loud, very deep HPE; loud and very deep *Stock for reference: mouse fart loud, whipper snipper 'deepness' |

THANK YOU! It's nice to read a thread by people seeking exhausts that are quiet. This has been one of the biggest problems that the AMA has faced, with much of their lobbying efforts (and our dues) spent dealing with legislation related to exhaust noise. The "idiotic" law in NYC is a direct response to people who put loud exhausts on their bikes. So blame those self-centered jerks when you can't legally change your exhaust in NYC. Blame them for places like Myrtle Beach kicking out motorcycle rallies. Maybe the exhaust manufacturers will see threads like this and recognize that there's a real market for quiet, lightweight exhausts. P.S. The "loud pipes save lives" people are full of ****: http://www.virginiawind.com/byways/loud_pipes_save _lives.asp Like we're going to believe that some guy who rides in all black riding gear on a black, reflector-free bike with no headlight or brake light modulators is all about safety and being seen. Please! |

+1 on the moderately louder and deeper exhaust search. The only good thing about stock exhaust is that the cops don't hear you coming at 100mph until you've screamed past them. I've been looking for any and all exhausts made for the 1125 for almost 6 months and haven't found anything worth buying. I just want something equivalent to Harley's current Screaming Eagle mufflers for mine. Just slightly louder but mainly deeper so it doesn't sound like a sewing machine at idle. Here's a list in no particular order: HMF FMF Jardine Termignoni Torque Hammer Drummer Saron HPE D&D HR1 Remus anyone know of others I forgot or haven't seen? |

T_man: Thanks for the informative response! I take it that in your opinion, the Torque Hammer is the quietest of the aftermarket pipes? A shame that it's so very ugly and nearly as heavy as the stock pipe. |

Be careful with the Remus, the baffle is held in by a circlip that's supposedly located by a 'micro weld'. My baffle blew out and was lost - wasn't offered a replacement (the pipe was a few months old) but they would have been happy to sell me one. The Remus has now been replaced by a far better looking 'Tubbs' pipe made in the UK. I'm very happy with the performance and deep tone. |
