As winter is bearing down on us up here in Canada I decided to take my 1125R out on what might have been the last nice day of the year. I wanted to see just how fast I could get 'er up to. I saw 163mph. I couldn't get all the way behind my screen and the road surface was pretty crappy. I think I might have squeezed a couple mph more in ideal conditions. Just curious to see what others have seen.. and no bullsh*t please! |

I took Loretta up to 138 indicated. The twins hid, so I shut it down. Z |

I saw 152 on the GPS, well actually I saw 152 after I backed off as the "highest indicated" speed on the GPS (I was too busy spank'n an R1 to look at the speedo ;+} !!). There was room left to rev. Later Neil S. |

I saw 138 leaving Birmingham, Al. on I-20 east, 4am, me and the 18 wheelers...the fun curvy, hilly part. Held it above 120 for quite a while 'til a opossum walked out in front of me. I was on it before I saw those red eyes...may have grazed it. I kept it around the speed limit back to Atl.. They get to 130 pretty quick! |

Not sure about the speed but I just touched the rev limiter in 5th while doing a track day earlier this year. |

I've seen 148 in 5th (dyno run) and 155 in 6th, but was running out of room and got skeeeerd. It was still pulling hard tho, even at that speed, maybe turning 9k rpm. |

also a 163. don't think there was any more left. Will never again try to find out, I have put it on my short-list of some of the stupidest things I've ever done. Was on a public road. |

You have some balls to be lookin' at your speedo at 164! so what does taking a pic at near 140 mean...?
and as for top speed i know the 1125r will do well into the high 160's. i wish i could remember FOR SURE what top speed i saw on the preproduction ones i flogged for 2 days at road america, but i know i watched it top 170, and am thinking it hit 172, but i know for sure the 17- popped up. obviously that was indicated speed i also know that an 1125r will carry a wheelie into the 160's but it is not fond of how quickly the front tire has to go from 0 to that speed when it hits the ground. and it sure scuffs up the tire and makes a hell of a racket... i have noticed that the top speed seems to have dropped since i took the inner airbox lid off. it just wont make those last few mph. but i rarely see that speed anyway so i dont care much (Message edited by no_rice on October 24, 2009) |

Now this was a split second glance, as i was riding with a guy on a jap bike who was really trying to pass me and i really didnt want to let him, so at about 2am on a 6 lane highway, balls to the wall, pinned and holdin on tight i believe i looked down to see 183. i immediatley let go of the throttle and changed my underwear. needless to say, he didnt pass me until i let go of the throttle and then when we met up again down the road, he was basically speechless, envious, and shocked that his litre bike just got spanked by a buell. he claimed he was at about 176 when i was still in front of him. |

WFO_Rey races in the Texas Mile, and with stock gearing and hitting the rev limiter @ the 3/4 mile mark, banging the rev limiter for the last 1/4, he hits the traps at just a hair over 166. On the rev limiter. That is timed over the last I think 50 feet w/ optical equipment like what they use at Bonneville, so pretty much, that's the real #, reguardless of what the speedo indicates. Our speedometers are waaaaay less optimistic than on most Jap bikes, but maybe just a hair on the high side. Buell speedos are notoriously accurate and consistent when checked w/ GPS. R |

2009 1125CR Maximum speed I have ever gone: 55mph on a public road. And don't believe anything that any police officer may say to the contrary.

In regards to the inner airbox - I too had a hard time pushing through 150mph with the inner not installed. Its got more zip in the higher RPM's I think - but I'll be damned if it doesn't 'feel' as if it has more zip with the cover off below 6k. Next season I plan to fit a GPS to my bike just to see exactly how fast she'll go. I'll need to fit a clear visor so I can get right down on the tank and see through my dark tinted windscreen though! |

I have seen 140 indicated exiting the 1/4 mile traps on a CR, on several (20+) stout passes. There is no doubt that a CR will top out (at 156 or so?) in a half-mile if you have a good tuck and the balls to pin it open. I am routinely trapping 132 at the track, BONE stock and decent technique at 6'2", 230 lb with full gear. That's 132 MPH ACTUAL in 30 feet short of a quarter mile. These things are animals, but quite under-geared. Then again, 140 MPH on an unfaired naked streetfighter is pretty much about all you will want. A coworker of mine has a 2007 R1, which is NO JOKE. He traps around 140 on a decent pass. The CR will tear the bloody lungs out of it, on a gear-for-gear roll-on in every gear from 2nd to 6th, up to reasonable speeds (110 MPH or so). That low gearing is the trump card, but there are those situations where it's pretty silly to bang the rev limiter in top gear while still pulling hard. I'm sure some have been there. |

I have a CR, and it gets a bit breezy at 135 indicated. That's as high as I've taken it. But it had more....a lot more. |

See my comment on thread..... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/507257.html?1256468954 Just got back from my ride. Granted, I DID make a quick BLAST! or 2 to 99-100, but was open Highway, and quick to settle back to reasonable speeds. I am faster than anyone posted here, as documented on closed course. Wanna go FAST? I can show U the PROPER way, NO BS. |
