I read some older posts where a few posters had mentioned that the techspec grip skins did a pretty decent job of insulating the frame heat from your leg(I plan on adding some thermotec and wrapping or ceramic coating the headers later on) so I figured they are cheap, and quick and easy to install. Only question is, no one specified which pads they were using. Are they about the same performance when it comes to insulating the heat from your legs, or is one better than the other? What about performance in General? |

I have the "textured surface" ones... not sure which one they are, not the diamond pattern. IMO they do help a little, but if your legs are burning from heat...ride with gear. I have rode with pants a few times and the rest I always wear my textile gear. No heat issues with gear at all. |

+1 on the textile gear. I have the Tour Master Flex II pants and Jacket and I "always" wear them. Back in July I had my 1125 for about a month the first time(and last)that I rode it with just jeans on. HOLY SH** HOT. I don't even notice with the Textile on. |

The diamond pattern (is it snake skin?) is the thickest and better for the heat. |

I think Fresno has it right. The thicker stuff is the snake skin patten and the high fusion is thinner. I went with the latter because the texture seems to match the powder coat better for me. |

You are all correct. I have the snake skin on my bike and LOVE it. It's very sticky and has decent heat insulation. The snake skin is .125" thick and the high fusion is like .050" thick |
