Is this the thread where we fantasize about bikes that we would own had Buell never existed? Or bikes that we justify getting on the basis of the mothership going belly up? | ||

My hanging on to my 1125r will pretty much be dictated by part order lead time. If I start missing weeks of riding time for simple parts, I'll move on to another brand. If that were to be the case right now, I'd be looking at an r1 or a ducati, probably an 848. | ||

You know, I was thinking the same thing--- probably Ducati... still want the low-end grunt of the twin. But I like tight, low-speed maneuvering, too, and Ducati sportbikes can mash your thumbs against the tank at full turn. Would then have to consider the Monster line, but then I'd be given up so much power relative to the 1125... It's sad because when I think about it, nothing is as all-around perfect as my 1125R. It's partly why I picked it in the first place. But I worry about parts, because given the consideration we've experienced from HD, I am doubtful of the extent to which they will honor our needs (like you're saying--- how long are we going to have to wait for parts?). This whole thing has left me ticked off... you put your faith in something--- something you think will pay dividends not only for you but for this country, only to get crapped on by your own countrymen. For the price difference in that and an 1125R (at current prices), you can pay someone to design AND build the bits to make your 1125R into an 1125ST! | ||

Pariah, that's why the r1 has my interest. Besides being a really cool looking bike, that cross plane engine is supposed to make better low end than most I-4's. I guess it's a little down on to hp, but for a street bike I think it could be the way to go. Then again, I could ride it and hate it. | ||
