I love my 1125CR and just rolled the odometer over 200 miles this morning. That said, at just about the 200 mark, I hit a false neutral between 5th and 6th and revved to about 7500rpm. Since I'm still in the not-over-6000rpm break-in period, I was not happy. This is the second time I've found a false neutral between 5th and 6th. I know it's happened to other people, too, but when you pay $4995 for a brand new state of the art sport bike, you expect perfection! |

Don't shift like a granny, and you'll stop getting that false neutral. |

Daggar is right, you can't be lazy, slow or timid. You don't need to kill it, but it likes a good solid shift over the later. |

+1 Bang it. I got em regularly early on, but I haven't had one in months. She likes it rough... R |

With size 13 feet, I try not to abuse shift levers. I really don't want a bent shift fork or other such internal problem. I may put the 1" lower Ligtning or Ulysses pegs just to see if that gives me a bit better feel for the shifter. |

Shifting hard doesn't fix it. There are times that I'm riding, moving through the gears, and think to myself, "I haven't had a false neutral in a while - it feels like I'm due". So, I give it a firmer shift into 6th, and don't you know it, false neutral. I get them much less often now, but it did do it to me once at my last track day. |

Gee whispers! Don't hate the guy for getting it cheap! Fmaxwell.. You may also look into adjusting the shift lever to better suit your foot position. |

Already hit it on my CR a couple of times- once on the test ride (when I hit a hard bump) and once on the ride home. For a ~$5k discount I can live with it. |

Dirty_john wrote: "well at least you got yours cheap, spend the money you have saved on lessons on gear changing" I don't need to. I already ride better than you do and have probably been riding longer than you have -- maybe longer than you have been alive. I've currently got, tagged and titled, four bikes and this is the only one that exhibits that problem. The issue is the bike, not the rider, when numerous people report the same problem. The information needed is how people dealt with it (different oil, adjustments to pegs and controls), whether it gets better or worse over time, and whether there are any internal repairs or adjustments the dealer can make to resolve the problem. |

been riding for 35 years, motorcycle training instructor, Institute of advanced motorcyclists here in the uk since 1979, ridden on most continents, done the cross Africa thing - ride over 20,000 miles per annum usually, I could go on but can't be bothered - only ever had a one false neutral and that was whilst drag racing my old GS750. The max number of bikes i have had at any one time is 6 and at the moment I have an 1125R, A suzuki SRAD for the track, an HD to take madame cruising and only recently sold my Firebolt, I doubt if you are older than me or wiser or a better ride - but hey do I care - no |

As stated earlier, lazy shifting is the culprit. Also as stated earlier, adjusting the shifter angle and/or peg might help as well. But with size 13s I suppose you already have the peg all the way out. |

I know it's happened to other people, too, but when you pay $4995 for a brand new state of the art sport bike, you expect perfection! This was written in jest. However for people that paid full retail, it can be a sore spot. No need to rub it in. |

The only false I've found was on the track and I was in an awkward position and needed to shift. I didn't get a clean hit and found neutral. Oops, just hit it again. BTw, they shift very nice without the clutch too! Fresno - Thanks, I had to bite my tongue on the $4995 comment. I only paid $7995 but that one still stung a little. |

Dirty_John wrote: "been riding for 35 years" Been riding for 36 years. Started on dirt bikes at age 12 and I'm 48 now. I've got seven bikes right now, but only five are street bikes and one of those is not roadworthy. Dirty_John went on to write: "only ever had a one false neutral" And Danny Eslick said: "It was so close. Jamie went by [on the last lap]. I made a little mistake, missed a gear -- it just kind of caught a false neutral." If only Danny Eslick had Dirty_John's riding skills... Sorry... The comment about getting the bike for $4995 was just me being exuberantly happy that I got such a good deal. I never intended my happiness to make someone else unhappy. (Message edited by fmaxwell on October 20, 2009) |

Easy guys, we're all family here. I've hit a few false-neutrals on Loretta. Seems to me they were all lazy shifts on my part. Do it clutchless, don't think I've hit one yet that way. I love dry-shifting this bike, it's sooooo smooth up AND down. Z |

Fmax, no worries, I'm glad to see you here and asking questions. Zak is right you can just hit the shifter and it will. Its really a very nice transmission. If you want a balky one try a FZ6, amazing little bike with a clunky box. Wait...that sounds like my ex-wife! |

Is there any way to force it to false neutral? I have gotten it a few times, but never when I wanted it. Right in between 5th and 6th is perfect. |

Yeh the false neutral was actually me not engaging second gear properly at full throttle and the red line, luckily the only damage was a split head gasket, taught me a lesson and hence making sure the gears are engaged properly - ride safe and enjoy the bike - I am enjoying mine. On and by the way I am 50+ |

I get a false neutral when I go from 2nd to 3rd on my 1948 Indian Chief but they say its suppose to be there and just push the shifter future down. So someday my 1125R will be as special as my old indian. |
