I can get a 2008R for 5k and want to pull the trigger tomorrow -
but am concerned about all the "problem" posts about the 2008r.
Did the remap take care of the stalling and other issues? Will the bike with a remap run 100%?

Jeff I don't want to blow smoke up your @ss and tell you it will be 100%. I can tell you that since last year with a few ECM updates from Buell that my 1125r just kept getting better and better. You have to understand that this motor doesn't like lower RPMs... *my opinion after playing with it on the track*

More than the fueling/programming the MOST likely failure you will have will be the rear turn signals and/or a leaky clutch cover. BOTH of these issues have been addressed and Buell has created revised parts to fix these issues.

Since the last flash, the only time I have had my bike stall at a stop is my fault and not the programming.

For the price you are paying...this is the deal of a lifetime. As we say in the Airborne world... GREEN LIGHT GO!!!

Besides the 3 recall items(brake, trans jet, and I forget the thrid one), the only items I can recomend as must haves are the 05Z flash(much improved throttle response, mileage, and nearly eliminated bucking at low rpms) and frame insulation.

Ride it like a big 4 liter bike...don't lug it.

If you still are not satisfied after 1k miles;

...feel comfort that there is alternatives already proven for what is common in all late model efi transportation.

Forget what drama you've read surrounding the 08 11. Much of what is posted history is now proven Bull$hit.

No fear bro. I would not have any problem getting a 2008 for that price. I have had a wonderful experience with the 2008 that i have owned since December 2007.

That being said if you can get a 2009 for a thousand bucks more (that seems to be going difference in prices etween 08s and 09s,) I believe its well worth the extra cash. Now it's NOT worth $2,000 or $3,000 more, but really we are all getting these wonderful bikes for dirt cheap so the bottom line is get one before its too late.

I have a 2008 with about 2k on it, I have only had it at the dealer for the 620 mile service. My bike is bone stock with the inner air box cover removed.

You will notice some surging in the lower gears mainly first gear under 30mph, it goes away around 4000-4500 rpm, this is probably due to a lean condition(EPA regulations). Since I don't ever plan on topping out the bike out I took the inner airbox cover off and the surging almost goes away. Removing the cover gives it a nice sound too.

Another thing that you may notice for the first few hundred miles is that in slow traffic the headers can get really hot till the bike adjusts itself, this went away on mine around 200-300 miles I have not had an unbearably hot foot since.

My recommendation is to buy it, you will probably never get this chance again in your life. If you haven't test ridden one yet and they will let you, take it for a spin.

If I were buying today, I'd buy an '09. What SlyP calls bullsh$t I am still living. Had I bought an '09 I wouldn't have been in the shop for most of the year. The solution to all of the problems I've had has been '09 parts...hummmm...or is that bullsh$t?

I think the extra $1,000 for an '09 is a bargain. The '09 is a very good bike.

Sorry for the confusion, but upgrade insinuates replacement. You are referring to tuning the bike. Since many new/prospective buyers are here, let's try to be clear.

Dris(Easyrider) is right.
The OEM flash will get you close.
Actually changing fuel and spark, just a little, makes a huge difference.

I can let out the clutch at idle and pull away, not stall.
Loretta does 7 mph in 1st and 12 mph in 2nd, idling.
I have gotten down to 38 mph in 6th before the cush-drive starts chattering.

And I "have no clue" what I'm doing...
