What are the major differences from the 08 to 09 bikes? Is it worth an extra $1000 to go for the 09? |

Yes and No, in my experience ive been fortunate to have one of the most problem free 08' here, besides grenading the engine @ 11k, and I have to say that it is a VERY good machine, however since I have a new 09' engine in my bike now i have concluded that the 09' IMHO has more grunt and better gas milage than the 08' engine, and is also CONSIDERABLY quieter than the 08'. BTW- My 08' engine broke a valve off and took out EVERYTHING in the engine... Jake either way you WILL ALWAYS have a SEG on your face |

no but, considering that my 08' broke a valve off and DESTROYED the engine, im pretty sure there was something wrong from the beginning... Jake BTW these were all based on my opinion, seat of the pants, and could've been nothing more than pure excitement of having my baby back...but the MPG was UP a good 3-5mpg |

Better atomization of fuel often leads to quieter, more powerful results. A good example of that is the VW TDi diesels that inject the fuel at over 12,000psi. That results in much better atomization, less clatter, better economy, and better power. I have no reason to believe that a spark fired engine would not behave similarly. |

Yes, buy the '09, if I could have I would have. My '08 has been a shop queen. You'll get all of the goodies, newer speedo, new clutch slave, new FIs, later revision of the throttle bodies, more powerful stator. Update ECM map. Yes it is worth it! Oh, mine spent 4 months in the shop, do yourself a favor, buy the '09. |

This thread was on my mind today when I was making the '08 vs '09 choice at the dealership. I ended up going with the '09 ... It was nearly a grand more, but you guys convinced me - Plus I liked the white/blue combo on the 1125R. Mike |

I'm sure this is a bit redundant, so pardon my XB-loving ignorance. I'm picking up my 09 1125R tonight. So as far as the changes from 08 to 09, we have: -new speedo -new clutch slave -fuel injectors -throttle bodies -stator -ECM map (should this be the 05Z?) -colors Is there anything else? What were the specific changes. I apologize since I'm sure this is in a thread somewhere. |

Where were the O2 sensor(s) in 08? |

They were right near the head in one of the small pipes. Later they were moved down stream in the larger pipe. |

Chevy, did your wrap help much? I used traditional header wrap and it didn't do much. My nuts still fry, gas boils and it will miss on 100+ degree days. Watch the speedo sensor wire too. When mine came out of the shop last it was touching the header and melted. Of course it was 9:00 pm when it happened in the middle of BFE Texas. |

It seems to help some, the gas still boils if its hot out and stuck in traffic for a long time. The wrap is for a turbocharger, it is a two step process. The cloth looking wrap goes on first then that is covered by the reflective wrap that you see. |

Interesting. I was thinking of making a similar wrap by using a layer of fiberglass header wrap, heavy cooking foil and another layer of fiberglass wrap. I bought what I think is a similar material at an auto parts store, like 4'X10 feet for $30 bucks. I lined most of the inside of the frame. When I rotate the motor for service I'll do the entire frame. Thanks! |
