I am a new 1125R owner. I will tell you that I do not know much about these machines since I am a tuber guy. Can someone tell me what the function of the solenoid is? Good thread Bakins. I will tell you all that I would not have bought the 1125R if it was not such a great deal. I just do not have room in the garage with a restoration and a custom project going on right now. Of course I will make room for her and the XB12Scg I picked up for the better half. I will be getting the service manual and part books soon. Thanks guys. Expect many stupid questions from me in the future. This is a great machine. Frank |

+1 Kuellrider ! That is what I did and helmet ,too. Made in Wisconsin was certainly not the only reason why I chose a Buell (at June's prices), but it was a BIG factor. |

If you are considering a loud aftermarket exhaust for your 1125, please read the American Motorcyclist Association position on motorcycle exhaust noise: http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/positions/so und.asp The AMA lobbyists are on the front lines fighting for our rights. They are the ones who spend countless hours opposing anti-motorycle legislation in communities and states across the U.S. And they say: "The AMA believes that few other factors contribute more to misunderstanding and prejudice against the motorcycling community than excessively loud motorcycles." It's obviously your choice, but wouldn't you rather that the AMA was not playing defense? If they weren't fighting community ordinances related to motorcycle noise, they could be working to improve things for motorcyclist rather than trying to limit how much worse they get. |

I found some threads about what sliders to get (dark horse moto, I guess). Are there any pucks needed? I read ones for Uly will fit? Just worried about low speed drops. etc (it happens...) |

+1 on DHM sliders. They just plain work. On the pucks, they probably won't help. The pods are designed to take the hit on tipovers and are relatively inexpensive to replace. Good barends & DHM sliders are your best bet IMO & YMMV. |

The best bar ends are nylon or Delrin. They slide and dissipate energy slowly without putting undue stress on the bars. Next best are steel. Worst are aluminum, as aluminum tends to dig-in and grab rather than slide. Pucks won't fit at all. I crashed my XB12Ss and it had pucks. Frame had to be replaced because it hit hard enough on the puck to dent the frame. The pods are probably better than pucks for frame protection. It's cool that the CR has spools on the swingarm, but are there any that are aftermarket ones that are flanged on the inside as well as the outside to protect the swingarm from being scratched when using bike stands? |

"Pucks won't fit at all." Yes they will fit with a small mod, but im not sure they will help much. |

The way that the pods are designed around the radiators act as a "leaf spring" providing a flexible apex to impact vs the frame. It's a pretty ingenious design if you ask me. Also, the pods cost *if I am not mistaken* around $55 to replace new. That's not bad for a built in crash protector. Keep in mind that these pods will not prevent serious injury or death of your new precious machine if you hit a stationary object. |

Read the manual and set up your suspension. All of the tools are in the tool pouch. Huge difference in handling! |

Not wanting loud exhaust, just "better" sounding/possibly performing. For example, I really liked the way a supertrapp sounds and they are sometimes actually quieter than many stock exhausts (low rumble vs high "whine"). Also, good source for barends? (and yes, I know sliders are for low speed/cosmetic protection only...) (Message edited by bakins on October 19, 2009) |
