today our local dealer had already stopped carrying buell. so being linked directly to a v-twin shop we called two others looking for parts. this is what we got." harley has told them since they are not buell dealers any longer they can not order buell parts that goes only to buell dealers" this is exactly opposite as to what was on the video of Erik yesterday. what goes? Harley is really screwing up stuff more than they said they would already in less than 24 hours. I dont believe them at all. especially after this mornings issues on getting a buell part. call around you will see the same thing. i called aprox 10 dealerships and got the same info. even 3 told me they are not allowed to do warranty work now due to they dont carry buell any longer. this is directly from management at these dealers. Harley Davidson = lairs I have watched many times already the Erik video on its a sad day. He looks as if he is reading the script they told him to use. He looks down and left a few times as well as right. 95% left is a lie and 95% right is a false belief when you cant believe what is being said. This is prompting false intentions in the human psychological profile on behavior patterns. which is an involuntary reflex we dont control. The pupils are fixed as to where they would oscillate and direction would change if he was not looking below the center of the camera. What was said is dictated and I wish we had the fly on the wall Video on what really went down. after Today I hope Harley has some serious issues. I also hope Erik pulls a Rabbit out of the hat and his attorneys can save him. he has provided Harley with way to much already. After 26 years of buying selling and helping you out you dont do things like this. Just beware parts are already limited and i cant even get them locally already thanks to Harley once again. mike} |

I hope they will change this policy, but if history is right then once a dealer drops Buell they not only won't, but can't order parts. I bought my bike from a dealer just down the road and 3 months later they dropped the Buell line. Ever since I've either had to take a 2 hour trip for warranty/service or just order the parts and do the work myself. -Patrick |

I'll have to talk with my local dealership today when I get there. Gotta pick my 12R up from getting some warranty work. It sucks, I have one near me, the next two closest ones are over 100+ miles away. |

See, now you'll have to trade it in on a Harley, which was one piece of the master plan. As if... Part of my plan too, for when I get older, like in 10 years or so. How many people stopped by the Ducati/Triumph dealer and checked out the goods yesterday? I did, I don't know if I own an investment or an anchor right now (it's a great bike and I was looking forward to a couple more years with it but I don't know what value it will have beyond that, can't ride collectors). |

Court's Buelership on wheels is going to be even more popular now. Everyone running up to it like kids after a Good Humor truck. Court in a apron and paper hat. |

IIRC yesterday Tom Bumpus suggested we'll be down to somewhere around 25 Buell dealers nation-wide shortly. Last time I checked, I still have a Buell dealer in town but based on Mike's post I better check again. You can always order from Badweb sponsoring dealers or American Sport Bike. |

X, if a dealer isn't a Buell dealer, they can't get parts. Its been that way for years. Your dealer probably dropped Buell. The board sponsors like Liberty/Precision still can get parts fine. |

If that's the case, what are current Buell owners supposed to do about getting parts next year? Will we all be stuck ordering parts through the mail from the one weirdo dealer who decided to keep a brand that no longer exists? That sounds like a really odd way to handle parts distribution if HD intends to continue servicing existing Buell customers. Why not absorb the existing Buell parts into HD inventory and distribute them that way? |

I think it would benefit everyone involved if ALL Harley dealers had the right to order and service Buell. At their own discretion of course. |

I called my dealer this morning and they tell me that there is no intention of dropping the brand & to rest easy about continued parts + service. |

I don't want someone who doesn't know what a floating rotor is working on my bike. I sure as hell don't want them dropping my motor come time for a valve adjustment. You thought there was dealer horror stories before? Wait till you get someone that lacks the knowledge or experience of working on Buells to go and muck things up. |

How soon can we get a list of "Authorized Buell Dealers"? As in " See your authorized Buell Dealer". How are you taking all this Court? I'm sad but not being mean to anyone. I did go to my Yamaha dealer today to pick up parts for my 88 TW200. They asked me if I was in mourning. They told me they could get a Strada rear tire for me for 159 plus 20 mounting and 6 to ballanse if I bring in the rim. Called me a man without a country. |

The scoop I just got-from Peninsula Harley-Davidson/Buell, is that they will continue to carry parts and do service on Buell. In fact, to remain a Buell dealer HD is providing an "Incentive" to keep them on board the parts and support bandwagon. That's what I was just told.... YMMV |

If they can't order parts, how do they service the bike that are under warranty? How can any of them be a Buell dealer if Buell is n o more? And what about the extended service plan the "no longer a buell dealers" are selling? |

How can my Chevy dealer be a Daewoo or Geo dealer if they haven't been around in years either? I can still attempt to order mirror for a Metro should I desire. |

The owner of my local dealership assured me that any parts or warranty repairs will be taken care of...he rides one of his many Buells to work every day. My extended warranty contract says "Harley Davidson Motor Company" on it...they BETTER honor it. |

i tried clearing the post up but it dissa peered again. I got the parts from Gainesville. I always get parts from paul I was just calling around to see if harley was backing the announcement. only buell dealer locations get parts but harley counts the beans from every store but doesnt allow buell at every store. they limit what locations can even do warranty, sell parts and ect but. they go against it counting sales low and assories poor selling. how are you supose to sell it if its not offered widely to everyone. it would be like having 100000 buell stores and selling harleys at 1000 of them then telling them your harley sales are down. dugh go figure. i'm still pissed |

Item 2.05. Costs Associated with Exit or Disposal Activities. On October 15, 2009, the Company unveiled major elements of its go-forward business strategy to drive growth through a single-minded focus of efforts and resources on the unique strengths of the Harley-Davidson brand and to enhance productivity and profitability through continuous improvement. On October 14, 2009, the Company’s Board of Directors approved and the Company committed to the discontinuation of its Buell product line as part of this strategy. The Company disclosed this action in the Press Release and will discuss the action during the Company’s conference call relating to its results of operations for the quarter ended September 27, 2009. The Company plans to discontinue production of Buell motorcycles at the end of October 2009. Remaining inventories of Buell motorcycles, accessories and apparel, while they last, will continue to be sold through authorized dealerships. Warranty coverage will continue as normal for Buell motorcycles and the Company will provide replacement parts and service through dealerships. The decision will result in a reduction over time of about 80 hourly production positions and about 100 non-production, primarily salaried positions. Employment will end for a majority of Buell employees December 18, 2009. MY TURN::: I THOUGHT THEY SAID SEVEN YEARS? THIS GOVERNMENTAL FILING CLEARLY SAYS WHILE THEY LAST. WHICH WILL INCLUDE DEALERS IF DEALERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WE ARE SCREWED. I DON'T FOLLOW THEN AT ALL. THEY ARE VERY VERY SINGLE MINDED AND THAT WILL BITE THEM IN THE BUTT. CHECK OUT THE DATE THIS WAS FILED AND THEN FIGURE OUT THE CHAIN OF COMMAND TIME IT TOOK TO DEVELOP IT LEGALLY. AT LEAST 30/90 DAYS. THEN LOOK AT SOME CONTROLLING HANDS WITHIN THAT DATE. YOU WILL SEE A PATTERN. NOW I AM MORE PISSED. http://investor.shareholder.com/sec/secfiling.cfm? filingID=1193125-09-208172&CompanyID=HDI |

Sounds like an opportunity for some enterprising individual to start buying all the Buell parts and contacting manufacturers to continue production of the specific sensors etc. Maybe a co-operative is in order to increase buying power with membership providing guarantee of parts availability. Is this making sense to you gents? |

That says it all right there, did you miss that line X? The only thing that will be while supplies last is "Remaining inventories of Buell motorcycles, accessories and apparel," Basically, those fancy Buell jackets, get them while you can. Don't worry if your XB fan goes out 5 years from now. |

None of my other bikes have ever been supported by their respective factories. Parts support was often better for those (my vintage Vespas in particular) than current model parts through a Buell dealer. Things may be shaky while everything gets sorted out, but I'm confident that the aftermarket will step up as long as people are committed to keeping their Buells on the road. |
