What if everyone that has a Buell at home right now comes up with say $500.00 and goes to HD buys Buell outright. If there is 100,000 of us out there, then that would be $50,000,000. Am I crazy???? |

Just a little. I'd do it if I had an extra 500 bucks laying around. I'd doubt Harley would sell the rights to anything Buell. They're too stupid and greedy. (Message edited by mr2shim on October 16, 2009) |

I'd spot you the $500 Mr2shim, unless I throw down on another Buell this weekend. |

you wouldn't get anything for it. Only rights. A nice thought though, crazier things have happened. eg. Green Bay Packers anyone? |

Good idea Motohead. I'd toss in $500.00 to save Buell. |

If it would guarantee the ability to gets parts for my 03 then I'd probably do it to. Didn't Harley do the same thing to rid themselves of the evil AMF??? |

"Didn't Harley do the same..." I think you're right Greg. |

I would gladly put money in. Unfortunately I'm afraid hd isn't interested in that. The story has to go further than what we are seeing. If money truly was what hd was looking for they could have sold buell to account for part of those losses instead of saying that the parts system is too intertwined. Yes I know provisioning costs a lot of money, but many many companies have merged, been bought out and so on and everyone has to go through that process. It cannot be just a money issue. but if it is hell I'd be willing to put in way more than 500 bucks... |

It would seem that because Buell did not meet the IMAGE requirements of HD it is being tossed out. I do not think I have been more disgusted in an American company than I have right now. From the condescending way the dealership treat Buellers from day one to the total lack of energy the running issues were addressed speaks volumes about the real commitment values of HD. Was a very sad day indeed when EB got back into bed with these pricks. |

>>>It would seem that because Buell did not meet the IMAGE requirements of HD it is being tossed out. Thank goodness for gifts received. Go take a look at Harley-Davidson's financial statements . . . read their "focus" for how they are going to address their bleeding. Who's team would you want to be on? Buell was tossed from a sinking ship with a life vest . . . Erik's dream. |

Court, I like your optimism, and I'm sure that Erik is already planning for the next 174 years of Buell. Any idea how long this is going to take to shake out? Right now it looks like Erik is still wedded to HD even though they cubed his brand. You say he was tossed, but the way I see it, he still has a rope tied around his waist (or neck depending on your perspective). Do we have hopes that he can fully free himself from the mothership and build another american sportbike company? |

Court, Have you talked to Erik? From what I've read it is possible that you may have talked to him since Thursday. Just trying to sort incite from wishful thinking. |
