What is the newest software version of ECM Spy? I'm looking at getting a copy off of ebay.

Seriously? You're willing to buy something that was free? Just download it via torrent and make the cable if you don't have one.

Won't I still have to buy a cable for it? I don't know how much it will cost to make one but its $45 on ebay for software and cable. If anyone has a copy and would be willing to share it would be very much appreciated.

Don't support the ebayers, buy it from American Sport Bike and then do a google search for ECMspy download.

I just built a cable for well under $30. In quantity they can be built for less than $20. Charging $60 is just crazy. If you send the parts to my house I will gladly assemble for you for free. We have the crimper at work.

under 20 that would be super bulk 100+ at a time. ouch... who will spend 1500 on cables and 678.00 on plugs at once?

with shipping it still runs at bulk around 26.00 after you do it correctly crimp and solder and re heatshrink. guess you could cut the plug cost and go non deutsch brand. which I only used brand products on things like this. a generic plug gets you in the 23.00/24.00 range after shipping.

The links above are the correct parts. a silver soldered and crimped plug is best. please do both if data logging. I have tried both and it pays to solder because the cable is a 22 guage wire and the sockets are a 16/18 and the crimp is not as good as you think. been there done that found out the hard way. knowing better from being in the electronics side of things for many years pining things and ect. from gm ecu's to yazoo control units, circuit board repair and ect. you can not beat a soldered socket. just do not over heat the wire with a cheap solder iron.

a single cable is 19.00 and a plug is 6.28 avg. then add shipping from each source. about 6 bucks each. so you end up at 38.00 in parts now to solder. if you dont have a gun thats another 39.00 and you just exceeded the 49.00 a cable should cost pre made shipped. If you are paying over 49.00 premade its too much peroid.

beware of ebayers some are selling Chinese junk cables I have seen them and they fail. some are legit. you have choices.

I bought a genuine Deutsch connector on Ebay for $5.23 shipped. The cable was $20 plus shipping from Mouser. Order 10ea (as I am sure the guys who make to sell do) and that becomes $18. Shipping from Mouser is about $10. My cable cost me $33 to make. $49 is fair for a premade...$60 is practically price gouging!

I thought 45 on eBay was a rip. 60 bucks! Then shipping. GAWD. At least the ones on eBay are free shipped.

I just made a few from the extra parts I ordered, $40 to $45 shipped with a copy of the software on disk seems fair to me for a break even price. If guys are willing to spend more to get discounts on the parts, the they can make a couple bucks for the time it takes to put them together, but it is really only a few bucks profit for your time. $60 is definitely in the profit making area, but can you really fault them?

Need to get my backside in gear and get out and check my extra cables so I can get them off to people who need them. Sorry I probably won't make another batch.

Thanks guys. I'm sure that once I get it downloaded I'll have a ton of questions on how to use it. Never done anything besides carb work in the past.

Read the tuning guide. Get it connected to your bike and save the eeprom to a file and flip through the menus with the bike running. Then read through the tuning guide again. After doing the above I'm getting close to almost being able to start doing more than clearing the error codes, resetting the TPS, and checking the mechanical timing. I think I need to read the tuning guide again.
