heres my new rear michelin pilot race tire. they were set at 24psi cold after the first 2 track days on it i have some interesting cupping around the groves of the rear tire, near the center most groves, and im thinking it might be a suspension related fix. what do you guys think?? |

Why does that look like it's mounted in the wrong direction? |

It WAS mounted in the wrong direction!! Good catch! I didn't catch it when the shop installed the tire, and as I was putting the sprocket and rotor on, realized it was backwards! I got to the track the next day and asked if I should be concerned if it was backwards, and they said not to worry, and instead rotate it back around after a couple more track days if I plan to go on the same direction tracks as to keep the tire wear even! Before last week I didn't know that people ran tires backwards on purpose to keep them evenly worn and last longer! (Message edited by pizzaboy on October 16, 2009) |

Note...next track day...the cupping will be back...! It's from the rubber moving around, around the sipe (groove). It's from being on the throttle during the action of corning. Different throttle openings will produce different amounts of cupping or feathering. Mike |
