Call them, and tell them you want to see Buell saved!! DON'T chew them out, it's not their fault! Call and wait for prompt 4, prompt 1 is a FAQ/dead end with no live help. Tell them you want Buell to continue, and explain WHY you want Buell saved (try to give them reasons, not just opinions like "Buell is cool!". They know that! They need a justification to continue selling Buell and they need to hear YOUR reasons!!) For example, I told them that I saw Buell as HD's door into the youth market, and that worldwide interest in Buell was growing rapidly, that Buell racing was paying dividends in awareness, and the Buell was just now hitting it's stride. There is a special casecode for these calls, and they will document your opinions verbatim if you specifically request them too. This is where Buell and HD have always been different, they will actually listen to you. Call them!! Tell them you want management to know how YOU, THE CUSTOMER, the HD CUSTOMER feel!! My wait time was less than a minute. There is NO reason not to call!! 1-414-343-4056} |

Um, yea, this aint gonna do anything. The decision has been made guys, its a done deal at this time. Harley is hurting bad for money, so they are cutting everything they can to stay afloat. |

Um, yea, this aint gonna do anything. The decision has been made guys, its a done deal at this time. Harley is hurting bad for money, so they are cutting everything they can to stay afloat. Is Buell Motorcycles sold off? Is Erik fired? Has the factory equipment been sold off? The "recent acquisitions" are up for sale. Why isn't Buell? If you'd show your support, this may happen. Sit on your duff and whine, and it WON'T happen. Guaranteed. Where's Harley's entry into the youth market? Their current customer base is aging, and retiring, and not buying bikes. Do you REALLY think HD stands a chance making the SAME thing they have for 105 years, and nothing else? Buell is their answer! Buell is JUST beginning to hit its stride!! They're panicking because it's tough times and they've made several bad decisions, and this is another one!! BUT, if we make it clear that Buell is supported, loved, and beyond on all else, if we can justify to them that Buell is CRUCIAL to HD's long-term health, then they can choose to keep it! They're putting all their eggs in one basket, and that's the hallmark of mismanagement. It is NOT too late to reverse this!! |

Ok, listen for a second. Judging by the recent profit numbers and so forth, if Harley didn't drop Buell now, Harley themselves would go under, taking Buell down with them. This way, Harley can stay afloat during this rough economic time. Once everything picks back up, they will still own the Buell name, and Erik will still be employed with them hopefully. Buell can pick back up kinda where it left off, possibly improved greatly with an entire new line of bikes. In short, keeping Buell aflot now would guarantee permanent disaster. Dropping Buell for the time being allows for future endeavors. |

Show me the numbers that indicate Buell was not self sustaining, and that argument makes more sense. I don't think that is the case. |

It is NOT too late to reverse this!! Sorry, but it is. The Board decided. The press releases went out. The analysts have been informed and explained the rational for the decision. This is irreversible. |

Check Courts thread about the big news. He posted up a quote in it that stated Buell revenue is way down when compared to last year, least I think it stated it in there. Lots of numbers getting tossed about in it. |

"if Harley didn't drop Buell now, Harley themselves would go under" That is complete and utter moronic nonsense. |

if Harley didn't drop Buell now, Harley themselves would go under Please 'splain to me how HD coughing up $125M RIGHT NOW saves them from being dragged under by Buell? Buell would not have lost more than that over the next year. Or two. Or three. |

Court posted no such thing. The information, virtually every word of what you wrote, is inaccurate. |

The commenter said: ""if Harley didn't drop Buell now, Harley themselves would go under" Blake sez: That is complete and utter moronic nonsense. Well, you could go a little bit farther to explain why you feel so strongly about it, rather than just implying that the commenter was a moron. The financial numbers were looking pretty bleak...agreed? |

To: Court and Blake and the rest of Badweb, I hope that You can Excuse SOME of us as We have been tossed out with the bath water before, when dealerships refused to carry Buell many Years ago, as I'm sure that You know. But this time the Baby was thrown off of a cliff, not just out with the Bathwater. Again another American Company seems to be taking the Quick/East way out of a Financial mess. Buell is/was something more than profiling on Main St. or Barhopping. Riding the curves with handling/brakes that were a big part of the ride along with the growl that Sportster Engine with a Heart beat makes, well what else is left to say. The Harley Guys will Snicker, and they will, until their own model is Rubbed Out in Yet the next "plug the dyke" Band-Aid Fix. My 2 cents (Message edited by roadcouch98 on October 16, 2009) (Message edited by roadcouch98 on October 16, 2009) |

They're putting all their eggs in one basket. They're taking their diversity and tossing it out the window!! They're ruling out a large sector of the youth market, that same market that doesn't remember a Harley without Buell, and doesn't view Buell as the intruder like older enthusiasts do. If you're a stock holder, these are all indicative of being penny-wise and pound-foolish! HD is forsaking long-term marketability and diversity to post slightly better stock prices now! Call them and tell them why they should save BUELL!! |

IF Harley had been run properly for the last 5 years, they should have had PLENTY of money in the bank to weather this storm!! ALL of their recent behaviour points to mismanagement!! |

LOW PROFITS IS NOT BLEAK NEWS!! IT'S A SIGN OF MAKING MONEY DESPITE BAD ECONOMIC TIMES!! This is STRICTLY a move to bump stockprices, to appease stockholders. What about the FUTURE? HD has coasted on the youth market of the '70's (Thanks, Easy Rider!) for the last 20 years, and now that youth market is old and dying. Now they are cancelling their youth market of today! What does that say for HD's future?? |

I called and gave a nice "complaint", my history (2 Buells but started on Hondas) and the Customer Service Representative was quite nice. |

I, too found Customer Service to be very nice. I even have a case number. I don't think, however, that H-D will give Buell a reprieve. New Buells will have to come from a new, independent Buell company. |

So HDI should do what they should have done from the beginning, make Buell a separate, independent company with no intertwining of operations with HDMC. It is VERY simply to do. My local H-D/Buell dealer also sells Triumph. Why is it a problem for Buell to likewise have their own dealership network and their own parts distribution, their own parts and accessories, their own customer service. HDI wants to not be bothered by Buell, fine, make them a stand-alone entity. It's pretty darn simple. Buell simply purchases the powertrains from HDMC for a fair price, win-win. That kind of corporate relationship is very common. |

>>>>>This is STRICTLY a move to bump stockprices, to appease stockholders. Maybe, maybe not on Wed before the Q3 report Wells Fargo Securities upgraded the motorcycle maker to buy/outperform. So on Wed Harley shares jump 7% on broker upgrade (26.26) and another 1.60 on Fridays close. (Message edited by two_buells on October 17, 2009) |
