I am in the military (well just about to retire) and when I deployed in 08, I applied for an interest rate reduction on all my loans. Because I was already on active duty prior to getting the loans, the creditors did not have to give me the lower interest rate. Long story short every one of them did it anyway, EXCEPT Harley Davidson financial. They sent letters quoting the law and said they would not be honoring my request. Which was fine with me as they were just following the rules. It just bothered me because HD is an American company and are supported strongly by the US military. I felt like it would have been a show of support if they had done so anyway just like everyone else had. Now they go and unceremoniously drop Buell, and with it greatly hurt one of their biggest assets, Erik Buell himself. I have lost faith in this company and am making a conscious choice to boycott them. It saddens me that in this time of economic woe the bottom line matters more than people. 200 plus people will be looking for new jobs and one of the most innovative people of our time has been broken. At least temporarily. I believe Buell will be back, but it will be a long and hard road. Erik deserves more than this. Thanks for your time and thank you Blake for this great forum. I will try to stay positive, as we all should. My heart goes out to all the employees of Buell. |

I'm blowing up some more tanks today at WSMR... and I plan on doing some custom spray paint work on one of them before it gets blown to pieces... I just wished I could take pictures. |

Maul: First . . . thanks for your service to our country. Second . . . . likely little secret about how Erik Buell and his family have supported, in word and deed, our United States Armed Service men and women. I had the pleasure recently of conveying a flag from a Badwebber (Sgt. Kenny) to Erik, his wife and kids as thanks for their support. It's proudly flown at the Buell farm. If you ever cross paths with me remind me to tell you the story, from only 4 months ago, what Erik Buell did when he found out a deploying soldier had been threatened with the loss of his job. Erik's personal values have sustained him and have never changed since I met him in 1987. Your kind words are service are both appreciated. Court |
