Ok I've been hearing a lot about catch can's and re-routing. What is the reason for doing it? Performance, appearance, less mess? Then if it's worth doing, how can I do it myself for lesser cash, if anyone is willing to share? I don't have $100 plus to put out for it. Any pic's for those that have done it? Thanks! (I tried doing a search with "catch can" for 365 days, but I just get a blank screen) |

Did you do a search in the Knowledge Vault. A quick search turned up these two. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/255661.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/424471.html |

It will allow your bike to run at only 1500rpm and run fine. It really helps out the low end drivability, and can be done with only a couple bucks worth of rubber hose if you are on a budget. |

Froggy... is it more of smoother running low end or is there a noticeable increase in low end power? For example will it improve your ability to power up the front wheel from lower RPM's or drive out of 2nd gear switch backs harder? |

It just makes it smoother. But, smooth is fast right? It does'nt give you wheelie poppin' power, it just improves drivability. All the 1500 rpm chugging went away on my bike. I did mine with everything stock. 05 12R |

I rarely get that low in the rpm's but I do like to drive out of some corners at 2,000-2,500... and yeah it does chug a bit. Ill post up how mine feels when I get around to installing an American Sport Bike catch can in a week or so. |

It makes it easier to do rock crawling, thats for sure! It wheelies like a monster either way, but my CR wheelies like the front wheel was never installed at the factory. |

Hahahaha sounds good Froggy... So not much difference in terms of drive? I was hoping the power would come on a bit sooner RPM wise, or just feel like it. And yeah I was watching a video of a Triumph Street Triple the other day, not even the torquey Speed but the Street. 1st gear, hard acceleration and around 11,000rpm or so the front just slowly lifts... now THAT would be cool... FZ1 I did a two up on with the president of the AFM did that over turn 9 at Thill, that was fun... I guess my XB would be easier to wheelie if I had the stock bars on it though, but I love the clubmans . |

I can't really describe it, but it definitely adds some low end grunt. Buy $5 worth a rubber hose and do it already! |

Oh, and buy an 1125CR. 5000rpm in 1st gear, moderate throttle and your pointing at the sky |

Hahaha someday . Honestly if I go liquid cooled anytime in the future its going to be a Triumph I think... That Speed Triple looks like a blast and has a good amount of power! And yeah I am buying the rubber I am getting ready to buy some nice foot pegs from Al so I was planning to just go for it and get a catch can from him and do it the pricey way. And while it may not add much HP down low to aid in the whoolies... My problem is that below 3,000rpm in 1st gear its got a decent amount of power but the delivery is not snappy enough, it sort of chugs, and that makes it harder to pop it up. So I find myself running it over 3,000rpm, and getting it up easily but quickly running out of rev's... Not that my life depends on wheelies, I am mostly doing the mod to for smoother more linear corner exits and better bottom end driveability. |
