I know this had been talked about before but.... I have a 99 X1, looking to put XB wheels on it and thought i read somewhere that 2003 XB9 lower forks will fit my upper tubes??? did i read this right? |

I don't know about the whole tube working but I'm going to have the local shop try and fit the very bottoms of the XB forks, the cast aluminum part, to the X1 tubes. One of the fellows I talked with said it might be possible. That way there won't be an issue with the length of the tube or with the guts of the fork itself. |

My bike is at a standstill until the winter. If anything comes from it I will post it up. |

I doubt that the cast parts come off of the steel tubes, if the tubes are the same diameter and nearly the same length between the XB and the tuber inverted forks the swap should be doable, the parts are similar in many cases the differences are related to the spring preload capibilities of the later forks, the internal cartridges may also be different. in the parts book the lower is shown as a single part. |

A friend of mine that races also said the tubes are shrunk and pressed with glue into the casting. Some disassembly required |
