copy of mt review at motorcycle superstore: ---------------------------------------- I was worried that I'd buy the wrong helmet, I tried all the nice ones and it actually boiled down to 2 models, EXO-1000 and the EXO-900. I bought this one. The benefits of lifting the front while riding on side roads after coming off interstate is worth it alone. However, I think I will miss the solid one-piece fullface style of the EXO-1000. I also predict a slightly colder face come winter. Other than that... the feel is different but easily gotten used to after 3-4 rides and the visibility is fantastic!! Venting is poor but a slight lift of the visor lets in huge amounts of breeze. --------------------------------------- (BTW: was bought locally) I ended up with the faster gloss-black to match my fast-black xb12x, I am thinking I should have gotten the light-silver to be seen more. But I will be wearing my green vest as allways. Maybe I'll get some reflective stickers. I like the helmet alot, I am still getting used to it. |

How well does the weight sit on the nogg'n? I was thinking about this helmet but at 4 pounds, I gotta wait until a local shop has one I can try on. |

I thought it was a tad heavy but it's not noticeable after a few rides with it. I do get some whistle sounds when I turn my head at speed (not sure where it's coming from) The one thing that bothered me the the most is the cheek pads are shaped different and fit different from my fullface (KBC Force RR) but it just took a few rides to break it in. Now it feels comfortable. |

I definitely have to check one out. It doesn't look like it uses the same face shields as the 700. That's a bummer because I have the Sun Shifter shield on my 700 but I reckon the internal sun shade makes it a mute point I'd love to get a Shoei Multitech (ultra comfortable and light) but until they can make a shield that doesn't fog up or a better chin vent I won't waste my money. My Shoei RF1000 as awesome as it is is useless in the winter. My EX700 never fogs up on me in the cold but doesn't accommodate glasses very well. So I think this might be the best replacement for the ol' faithful Nolan N102 which is about ready to fall apart. |

Well I went and picked one up. I see what you mean about wind whistle when you turn your head. Mine's not too bad and only does it when I turn my head to the right. I wonder if it's from the sun visor lever slot? It's a little noisier than the Nolan but the optics are better. The fit and comfort (on my head) are MUCH better on the EXO-900. It was well worth the price (which is dirt cheap compared to Shoei) for a sturdy and comfortable helmet with an excellent face shield. That internal sun shield is way cool too I can't comment on the vents. It's been raining so the vents have stayed closed. |

Hey congrads!! To be honest, I am still getting used to the modular thing. I love it when it's on my head and I am riding... it is mostly the getting ready to ride and arriving at my location that is the hardest. I have to look at helmet twice and/or flip it open before putting it on, then taking it off I put it on my mirror (open) then use the Buell cable lock for my jacket and helmet. I am used to my FullFace and throwing that right on/off in 3 secs. AND it was matte titanium and I didnt care if it got scratched up. lol. hmmm I wish I had some smaller (new) BUELL stickers to put on it. I will get some reflective stickers or tape. I only feel the front vent.. and only very slightly, I have the extra piece (its probably in ur box) snapped to the existing under-chin piece to block wind coming in from underneath. Opening the visor open one click brings in a huge amount of air. Seems the vents move air very minimally but enough. I have'nt fogged up yet. On mine, the whistle goes away if you gently press on the visor so maybe there is a way to tighten it? Who knows. |

On mine, the whistle goes away if you gently press on the visor so maybe there is a way to tighten it? I have an EX400. The dark visor I purchased separately had a larger gap around the seals than the clear visor that came with the helmet. The seal has a flap. To decrease the gap, I put small shoe strings under the flap, thereby lifting the flap and eliminating the gap, thus providing a better seal. This might also work for the EX900? |

I found where the whistle comes from on mine. It's from underneath. I have that little extra skirt attached but a little wind gets forced up past the neck. If I hunch my shoulders up and block the air flow the helmet becomes amazingly quiet. Except I'm not going to ride with my shoulders hunched up. That would just be silly I adjusted the fit and I gave the neck roll thingy a few pumps and it helped a lot. Before then I thought the whole 'pump' thing was a stupid gimmick and I gave it no thought. Apparently it does help and I'm eating a lot of crow over it |
