-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ OK Folks.....here is the next "Event of the YEAR!" American Sport Bike BBQ in the Sequoias or also known as the "OKTOBERFAST" This year we will be staying at the Montecito Lodge again and I believe we'll have the Dandy Cabin......the only part of the lodge on the other side of the lake......('bout a 5 minute walk). The riding out of here is some of the most spectacular in all of California and Kings Canyon is breathtaking. A 'must do' if you've started your bucket list like me. Some of the LARGEST trees in the known world. So check it out at American Sport Bike's links and check out a few of the Views here soon. |

Laurie and I stopped at Montecido Lodge yesterday and it was great! There were fires there last week but Montecito is back in full swing operation. There was archery, poolside fun, and a wave making speedboat in the lake. If money is a problem, then hook up with others to share a room. Details are available at americansportbike.com. You MUST get off yer butt and join us for the American Sport Bike BBQ event this year. I am so going to NOT miss this event. (Message edited by reindog on July 16, 2009) |

TIme is getting closer for Al's event. The national parks are spectacular places to hang out and ride! They are like Yosemite without all the people! Don't miss it. |

Reminder to those planning on coming that haven't made reservations at the lodge: Reservations should be made by September 9th. I don't know what would happen if you made them later, but don't wait. Also, if you're coming solo and want to make it less expensive, there's at least one person I know of that wants a roommate or 2, so contact us and I'll get you in contact with him. Our vendors have really stepped up this year, we have some very cool swag to give away in the raffle. I'm sure everyone that comes will leave with something cool. See ya'll there. AL |

Al, Not everyone can access this thread due to the "American Sport Bike" string in the title. Clicking on the title led me to the American Sport Bike website. To access this thread, I had to figure out that the address is: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 476482.html?1250603815 If it is happening to me, then it could be happening to others. I am using firefox. |

Punxsutawney PA home of Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog day. I have already been in contact with a Badwebber from the area out there so I will have someone to ride with. I am currently Buell-less so it will be with my KTM. Think of me on Groundhog day Feb 2.

Ebear, Tom, me, and likely Terminator are going to be leaving Thursday to the Lake Isabella area. Friday we'll take our time winding up the lower Sierras to the lodge while the family drives the truck up from So. Cal with Laurie and Cheryl. If anyone else has like minded plans, contact me so we can arrange to meet somewhere. I'll publish something up on our web site on the details page in the next couple days. Al |

Oh yea, if you haven't signed up, it isn't too late, and the group rates will still apply. Let me know if you're thinking about going but want to room with someone to minimize costs. There's a few folks that are in that boat that haven't signed up. http://www.americansportbike.com/Montecito_Details .html Al |

I was all ready thinking of staying Thursday night over in the Lake Isabella or Kernville area, so that would be cool hooking up with the rest of you. |

I made reservations at McNallys. See everyone Thursday night. Remember, the diner/bar there closes at 8pm !. However, I plan on trailering my bike up to this point with a friend, so I will pack the cooler and we will make a stop in town and load it up. Scott |

Cool, Scott! Please buy some good beer like Sierra Nevada or similar and I'll pay you for it. Everyone, remember to bring some cooler weather riding gear. at night time, it'll be around freezing, but the daytime highs are in the 60s. The morning rides will be brisk. Al |

The Montecito Details page has the Saturday ride info posted, and it matches what you just wrote exactly. See http://www.americansportbike.com/Montecito_Details .html It works well, that way we can connect with some folks that won't be staying at Montecito on friday night along the 180 down in the canyon, since once you drop into the canyon past Hume lake, there is no other way in or out. And then we go right back by Montecito on the way south to Mineral King, so we'll have lunch at Montecito (we've paid for it, after all) and then head south. It makes it easy for folks that only want to do one ride or the other, since a few people have family or significant others along that they may want to hike or whatever with. It isn't too late to sign up for this weekend if you've been considering it. The weather is going to be cool, but glorious, up there this weekend. Sunny, 0% chance of rain. Al |

We wish we were there, too. Thanks again to Al and Joanne for the generous offer of a bike to ride and $10,000 in spending money if we came out. Nope, no fu-fu drink, that there's a Denise-made hi-perf Margarita (yeah, we know, it's not in a margarita glass. We've got some, somewhere, but they're still in boxes....) And posing on the picnic table is a case of Oktoberfast brewskis that D picked up in all y'alls honor. So, where's all the words and pix from the weekend? Did Reindog hurl??? Did Page crash a golf cart into a tree??? Did anyone see any flashing blue lights (and if so, were they accompanied by the wail of sirens and the command "Feet back and spread 'em!" ) Inquiring minds want to know. FB |

As you can tell the weather was, "I think I just want to stay indoors" type conditions.
More to come including my tale of exploration on my 1125R dirt bike. I still say you guys set me up! |

Was that "inspiring minds?" Should be , cause you inspired us to drink heavily and yes....there may have been "hurlage" but it wasn't the Reindoggie....well maybe! Page may have bounced off a couple of trees but the aliens landed in the lodge Sat. night....so we rushed dinner and closed off the entire west wing of the lodge and had a MAJOR PARTY with tons of Amazing and Glorius prizes donated by American Sport Bike's vendors...and more importantly , OPEN BAR FOR EVER!!! EVERYONE got something great.....(Like a very nice exhaust system for my upcoming 1125r track bike!!!)and brakes for the S3T etc , etc! AL AND JOANNE ROCK!!and Zack too! Actually everyone was great to be around , we made a bunch of new friends , rode to the end of Kings Canyon again , did the ever cool pics on the grass at Lake Hume and drank up alot of refreshments at the Dandy Cabin. I had my Best Friend Cheryl there and we had a Blast. Thanks Joanne and Al for another great American Sport Bike BBQ and already planning the Next One! (pics will follow tonight) |

Indeed, it was another great trip! Thanks to Al, Joanne and Zack for allowing us to again return to some of the best roads anywhere, and of course, with some of the best friends anywhere! This year, no resort golf carts were used to ferry beer in total darkness across the damn roadway at 2am. Scott |
