I have an M2 I put the recommended amount of Stabil in the tank etc.
I have someone who keeps telling me not to use Stabil it will ruin your carb. he say use this marine stuff that's clear and supposed to be better, don't use the red sh*t.
I've read Stabil is no good with ethanol gas...
What about Seafoam as a preservative, varnish reducer??
When I got this bike used, I had to clean the carb and it was full of varnish so I'm paranoid that it will accumulate crap over the winter if I don't use something.
What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Regarding Stabil, I occasionally use it in my S1 and the carb's been OK for periods of 6 months at a time.

IMHO it's better to use Stabil than nothing if you're gonna let it sit for more than a month or two. If there's something better, use that instead.

A greater concern than gumming up the carb is gumming the intake valves in the guides. When that happens, it's teardown time to clean the valves and guides.

What is your source re ethanol? If it doesn't work with ethanol gas, I'm sure the company would say so, no?

I'm just starting to do some research. One of the things I've read was that old Stabil was fine when they didn't use ethanol in fuels to the degree they do now. I've just read this about Marine Formula STA-BIL, which given the 10% ethanol in fuel, seems to make sense.
BEST Ethanol Problem Fighter More than FOUR TIMES the Fuel System Cleaner than in Regular STA-BIL DOUBLE the corrosion preventer than in Regular STA-BIL Prevents corrosion from moisture & ethanol-induced water attraction Improves marine engine performance YEAR-ROUND, not just for seasonal storage

I've used Sea Foam for the last 5 years, no problems at all on 3-4 bikes (one only has 3 years of data...).
From someone who knows much more about this than I do, Stabil used to work much better in the old formulated fuels.
Now it cannot stablize the gas for much more than 4-5 months.
His recommendation to me was good old Sea Foam.
