I rode around the block the other day with inappropriate riding attire on, and noticed that my right ankle was almost on fire( I exaggerate just a little ), could the problem be that the extreme heat from the exhaust is causing the problem? I'm thinking about making a heat shield that can be mounted to the cover on the front side towards the exhaust and wrapping the pipes as well. What do all-you-all think? P.S. that's the plural of you-all. | ||

That heat is common, nothing unusual. Just wear the right gear and it's a non-issue. | ||

By the problem I meant the weeping clutch syndrome, not the heat on my ankle | ||

so your saying you think the heat from the exhaust is causing the clutch weep? the stuff about the ankle was just to elaborate that its very hot on the right side? I suppose its possible but not likely imo... cant hurt to try a sweet heat shield thou... | ||

I'd like the record to show that I'm confused by this thread. My right front tire is low on my car, so obviously my map light doesn't work. | ||

Doc, I can't vouch for the validity of this, but I read somewhere that the theory was that the original sleeve was made of aluminum and therefor wore out very quickly. Compounding this was the delicate installation which commonly resulted in the piece getting warped as it was going in, accelerating its decay. I understand the upgraded part is stainless steel. | ||

My exhaust has been wrapped for about 5k miles and I just noticed my clutch weep this weekend. I am pretty sure Marcodesade is right. I dont think heat has anything to do with it. It should be cooled with engine oil anyways. I pulled the black plastic "puck" off yesterday. you can see that aluminum sleeve that supposedly wears out and sure enough... junk. there was also a chunk of seal that was lying in there. | ||

It was just a theory that I came up with due to excessive heat on one side of the cover that could be causing the problem. Back to the drawing board I guess. THE DOCTOR IS OUT | ||

Doctorneon - with respect I think you are barking up the wrong tree on the clutch weep. The issue is one of wear, should have been a steel sleeve in the cover really, easy to be talking with hindsight |
