GUess I got too much time on my hands these days... Anyways IF one had a engineer who could cut and re weld the right side fuel frame and install a S&S Carb through it, wonder IF there is a Manifold that would work?? So my question here is just on the manifold etc?? But feel free to comment on all... |

I saw a picture a few years ago of a Euro Drag Racer XB with a Weber Carb sticking out the top of the Air Box . The Weber Downdraft carb has infinite tuning possibilities . Using a down draft carb - no frame cutting , I just don't know how you would deal with the ECM . |

How would you spark it without the ECM? |

You mean to tell me theres no after market Ignitions that will work here Like A Dyna or many others that are used on Sportsters etc? |

Wasn't some of the late tubers carbed but had a ECM for spark? |

Why not just switch to points or even magneto while you're at it? |

MAgneto LoL HAd enough years gone by running them on Big Twins, No more of that for me, And as far as points go, Have done that as well I wd. have no problem with points if thats possible on the xb`s But would rather have something from the Dyna lines great stuff and worry free... But wonder on the Intake manifolds guess they would be similar to the Tubers/ sportsters maybe 2004 up till they changed them to fuel ing. |

Froggy Yes they had carbs, Not sure what they used for spark though... |

Carbs I got 23 grams of carbs in this vending machine bag of chips right here. Having worked with fuel injection, I'd never be a fan of carbs unless just to have a project for a project's sake. I watched Bartels try to sort the carb conversion out on their XB racebike for 2 seasons - takes me about 90 seconds to "change jets" from a laptop. |

great stuff and worry free... Like fuel injection and electronic ignition? |

Got a Dyna Single Fire Unit on a Evo 5"Stroker now, And Dyna coils Lots OF Spark Nice System,( No Wasted Spark )Same units used on the HD`s Top Fuelers years gone by... And yes great stuff and worry free... And Slaughter LoL..I`m sure we all could turn this into a debate on that |

the only reson we used the weber downdraft back than was because it was the easy way out, no adays we would have sticked with the FI, because tuning the FI has because way more easy |

Yeah... for sure. Carbs - we're talking macaroni and chips and rice kinda stuff right? A good full-bodied beer has carbs... that's why I won't touch a "lite." |

Well All I can say once ya got a Carb. Tuned, and Nothing But Good Clear Filtered Fuel runs to it, Not much to worry about there, and Maybe that`s to a lack of sensors |

I don't know; I'm asking you... Do you know or have a plan? As for your "well tuned carb"; it's only as good as the conditions when it was "tuned."

Teeps, Not sure on that, I really have never missed around on seeing how the Xb sends the signal ... Would think its Straight to the Ecm... Where as say the Dyna and perhaps others is straight to the coils... Perhaps others having adjusted their timing etc. through the cam cone sensor could share on that? What would one need to install a pickup device to signal the coil/s to fire to the plugs on these xb`s? Something like this work : http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/products/harley_davidson/dyna_s/ (Message edited by hogs on October 10, 2009) |

Hogs - I was just funnin about CARBohydrates in food - pasta and rice. Caught me there. I always wanna play with "carbs" since BOTH Pasta and Rice are sources of carbohydrates (as were my potato chips!) |

These guys sell a carb / manifold kit for an XB conversion, and also a new ignition rotor that you will need for the conversion to swap to a new ignition. www.bareknucklechoppers.com |

Qcbrob, Thanks for the link...YEah I see this there: NEW XB Rotor Cup $32.50 So Guess that will allow one to run Allows your XB to run a late model electronic ignition and carburetor Don`t see the carb/manifold kit though will keep looking... |
