Easy, how bad were the heads stock? Just curious before I tear my motor down this fall/winter. I remember my stock Ford Mustang heads were miserable from the factory and just a nice clean up job made the car run so much smoother. Nick |

Hi Nick, the heads are pritty good stock, there is almost no room for bigger valves ( only 0.5 mm bigger ) our head's cc was very good, quish ect.. very good no suprice there, Buell made a very good choice to let Rotax build the buell 1125 engine. our cam's where a little of, but that is measuring with a micrometerdail, no biggy there is little to gain, but a nice port looks always nice, it runs a little nicer, but that can't be measured. the engine heat is less, but that has also to do with using bigger headers ( racing stock coolers with Redline w.wetter ) during race 180-190 F, just about right. next week, tearing the engine apart, to see what +/- 3000 race km has done i suspect to find a very clean and tight engine,
stock.
after a little work

Hmmm. I find it odd. A sharp edge was proven to be detrimental (quality and quantity) to "subsonic" flow, many years....ago, but it still seems to be done on some bike heads. Yet, some high lift flow can be cleaned up (quality of flow) by stream lining the valve guide...also...which few do. Strange indeed. Though..as Bud says, not bad ports to begin with. Maybe a little short turn work. Looks like some experimentation might yield some gains there. Mike |

Chris, top two pictures are the intake ports Mike, we work on the heads is a cooperation with a known ducatie/ rotax performance specialist , and discused with 4il racing engine builder. this was stil a simpel, make it a little better, running nicer job. last year the time was not yet there, to seek big performance modification, every thing had to be made, there where only eom parts availble, now pistons are more availeble, camshafts, performance rod bolts ect.. for us multi valve is new, the 1125 buell engine is by now means easy to tune, trough it's high state off performance / engine building quality |

Thanks Bud, So looks like you guys never bother to do anything at all with the Valve guy boss entering into the intake ports, also what grit did ya finish the intake ports off with, almost looks like they have been brought up to the polish state as well? Thanks |

Be very careful what you do to the floor of the port. The radius of the turn is critical...it is very easy to turn a head into a beautiful piece of scrap metal. I always work the guide bosses unless it would increase the sectional area too much. |

We are working on a kit that would come with pistons, TI valves, and re-ground cams. There will need to be head work done which we are trying to get some cores together so it could be an exchange program. There will be two setups either for street or for race. We have seen 150+hp to the rear wheel. thanks, Serge Glendale Harley-Davidson and Buell |

How does yours differ from the RR updates? I'm guessing it's available without a racing license. |

Hogs, those unpolished bumps are where the injectors are located. |

Spec - That's the valve guide and opening. The injectors sit in the intake runner. |

Serge: If you need, and you may have already done this, info drop me a note. You'll be the second group to do this. It'd darn sure be a killer street machine! Court P.S. - I DO NOT OWN AN 1125R or 1125RR. |

I agree. After you "put me in my place" . . I got out of the 1125R business. You made a good point . . If I don't own one, stay the hell out of the way. Turns out I'm not having much problem finding other things to occupy my time.

I don't care if he owns one or not, or has ridden one or not, thoughtful and intelligent folks will always be interested to hear what Court has to say about anything Buell. |
