I have met both Erik and Blake. Although I have to admit I have never seen them both at the same place at the same time. |

>>>HD and Buell employees can get themselves fired for posting in forums like this. And have. Some folks from Buell view the site. But it's sporadic and nothing posted here should ever be presumed as "communicated". It's a slippery slope and I, in some ways, miss the days when Erik and I, using the screen names "Erik" and "Court" used to mix it up nightly with Steve Biegle, John Schreck, Larry Wallerstein and all the old timers on the Buell boards. It got good and a heated argument resulted in my riding the BUELL LAP OF AMERICA stunt. It's no secret, to those who can log IP activity, that folks from Buell "peek" here. But any participation would be strictly taboo. At one time there was a plan (M.I.T. 1997) to have an "Ask Erik" section on the Buell website. The good news is that Erik is so accessible, as are most the folks at Buell, and at so many events that it's just really not necessary. Just for fun . . . and see if you can do this without looking. Write down on a piece of paper the names of all the Buell Engineers Executives, Engineers and Elves you know. Now . . turn the paper over and write down the names of the Engineers Executives, Engineers and Employees you know from ALL OTHER MOTORCYCLE COMPANIES COMBINED. Care to share you results in a 175/3 (that'd be my answer) format? Buell is more "connected" with Buell owners than any motorcycle company has ever been. |

I have met both Erik and Blake. Although I have to admit I have never seen them both at the same place at the same time. Both at the 25th Anniversary. Both At my bar during Homecoming. One playing great music and the other tipping a couple great beers and enjoying himself???? Which one is which??? |

Talked with Blake, Court, Erik and a whole bunch of Buellers at Daytona in '06... At a fellow Badwebber's house no less. Got to spend time in the Daytona garages with Erik and McWilliams too. |

"HD and Buell employees can get themselves fired for posting in forums like this." Um, no. Maybe if they are "in-the-know" and post "secrets". I was a HD employee for 5 years, all the time posting here. I didn't get fired, just one of the thousands that got laid off. |

"HD and Buell employees can get themselves fired for posting in forums like this." Um, no. Maybe if they are "in-the-know" and post "secrets". I was a HD employee for 5 years, all the time posting here. I didn't get fired, just one of the thousands that got laid off. First off, I'm sorry to hear you were one of those laid off. I know several people that are in that same boat there. The reality is though, that yes, we can be fired for posting here regardless of what is said. Basically, anything we say can be viewed as speaking for the company, even if it's our own personal opinion and as such technically needs to be approved by corporate communications. Now with that said, if you're not saying anything that could get you in trouble (like disclosing proprietary information) it's probably not enough to raise any eyebrows, but from a purist standpoint, they have every right to terminate someone for posting here. And that's why I say a huge thanks to Blake for giving us the anonymous option to use when discussing certain things. I know some people have complained about the use of it, but the reality is, there have been things that I have posted that I simply wouldn't have without the option because I certainly have no intentions of risking my livelihood for an internet forum. Posted anonymously to protect my identity since I've just confessed to posting anonymously and don't need to make it that easy to find me out. |

It's the anonymous folks and the named folks with great knowledge who have helped me understand not only my P3 but the other bikes that I have ridden and fallen in love with. Because of the people on this board -- whether they flame me or support me or whatever they do -- I have learned to do repairs that I would not have had the courage to try. This board is not the average forum, no matter how much politics we talk. Otherwise, I wouldn't be posting this now. Thanks for sharing knowledge, ideas and really, really bad jokes. |

Wow, really? Along with not posting sensitive stuff (not that I knew anything, most of the hourly employees were kept in the dark), I guess it helped that I didn't broadcast that I was an employee!

There's a fine line. Like my office . . . the BEST policy is that you don't post at all. But, in practice no one much cares as long as you don't cross a line. Cross that line, and HD is perhaps the worst, and you quickly get promoted to ex-employee. The worst transgressions, from my memory here, are when an employee, acting outside the scope of their job, intervenes in customer/dealer affairs. 30 days to the door. |
