K&N and M1 oil filters cost too much... The coolest looking and best is still the OEM Buell filter. They are already black. They work well. They fit right. I think Mobil 1 are made by Bosch, but that's just going by memory, which fails me more and more..... what was the question?   Daveswan Posted on Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 10:02 am:        I was initially going with the stock filter mainly because it was pure black. THough on close inspection of the stock filters I was less than impressed with the quality of the burned, dry, powdery looking spot welds that hold it together when you look at the bottom around the inside of the threaded ring. I thought maybe I got a bad one so I checked about a dozen on the shelf and they all looked the same. I felt that such poor quality control just by visual inspection doesn't make me feel terribly confident in the whole apparatus. On the other hand the K&N has nice welds, thicker material and a better finish. I like the fact that it's all black and I love having a 1" nut on the end for removal. Plus it's drilled for a wire restraint if you see fit. I saw some different brand filters cut in half, Fram, K&N, and some off brand. Sure it cost more but there are some things I don't mind paying for and I'll save someplace else - like maybe on my wife.
